Actually........ This was discussed early on. There are 2 impediments. The greatest one is simply insurance. The "Magic" is nearly done! If anything changes...... |

Love ya Court- news so nice, had to say it TWICE!! Don't believe I can make it there, despite the great time I had last year- will there be some cool Homecoming swag available? Last June I was thrilled to acquire a new Pirelli Angel front tire, a new Hero Blue flyscreen, some stickers and a T-shirt- wish I could buy directly from the source again... Court, I'm really looking forward to all the stuff peeps will be reminding you to tell them...

If Erik Buell Racing cannot find an hour or so to show off their newest creation to some of the most passionate motorcycle riders in the world, folks who actually will show up at your door without even needing to spend money on advertising, then they need to fire their marketing rep as that is just stupid!! That kind of exposure is priceless!! Don't give me the insurance excuse either. I gurantee you they have insurance to cover folks in the parking lot should somebody get hurt. You cannot run a busines without it by law in most cities. If they truly want to survive they need to remember that they need to sell bikes, not just make them. At $40,000 a piece they are going to need all the free publicity they can get. How much do you think it will cost to do a full page ad in say Cycle World? How many people who actually are interested in Buells will read it? Any time you can get folks to show up at your door asking for you to show them how they can spend their money you take the time to show them!! (Message edited by dannyd on May 25, 2011) |

Erik has always understood how to make great motorcycles but I bet he would be the first person to tell you he is not very good at selling them. If you see anything wrong with what i posted i would love your input? |

Court - aside from your much appreciated efforts on special shirts, will there be Erik Buell Racing swag either at Erik Buell Racing or Road America that can purchase from the RatPack site? I keep wanting to buy a few items but then something in the back of my mind keeps telling me to wait until homecoming and save the shipping. |

Dannyd, that hour may be the difference between absolutely insanely cool things happening over the next few months and not. Things are happening and deadlines must be met. Deadlines that cannot be moved. Folks are working insanely long hours. Putting on a show for a few very enthusiastic Buell fans has to unfortunately drop down the list of priorities. Homecoming will be fun, lies will be told, beer will be drunk, friends will be made, anything more will be a bonus. Just relax and remember, you like me do not see any but a tiny slice of what is happening. When it can happen all will be revealed. |

Danny - Its a race weekend, right? Im sure that those associated with the race effort will be busy with that. Those working on production bikes will probably be quite busy with getting things done so there are no production number issues for racing. While I agree that it'd be cool to roll a bike out etc Id understand that they are very busy right now. Hell, if they dont have the time to ship out parts orders (income), why would they have time to roll a bike out for folks to look at (this 'free advertising' to folks that already know about it etc)? besides, they are getting tons of exposure from the release of the bike, its spoke about in every major moto rag out there |

Back when the American Thunderbike Club was the largest organized group of Buell enthusiasts, the Factory was flying in motojournalists to ride the pre-release Firebolts (XB9R). However, they wouldn't give anybody from the ATC an opportunity to ride one. At the time, I had a friend who was working at the H-D Product Development Center; and I asked him about it. I felt that the people who had been the most supportive and loyal to the brand deserved information at least as fast as the rest of the motorcycle world; or, in my own opinion, faster. He spoke to people who who would know, and when he got back to me, he told me that the Mothership knew that we were loyal, and would always be there for the factory. They didn't need to impress us. They were trying to favorably impress the motorcycling public who thought Buells were unreliable and troublesome Harley sport bikes. So they were trying to favorably impress the Press to win more sales. Personally, I feel that whoever came up with that philosophy could justify wife beating; however, nobody from the ATC got to ride a Firerbolt Test Bike. We members of the club had to learn about the bike from Cycle World and Motorcyclist. I understand that there are very good reasons for not doing something for the loyalists who have always been there for Buell; but sometimes it feels like we're battered wives. |

Crusty, that was H-D not Erik. ANY indication the Erik is not hugely appreciative of his owners and willing to go way above a beyond is simply wrong. This will be a fun HC, just a bit different than some in the past AND in the very near future we should all come to fully appreciate what is going on. What is possible in the near future is simply insane. It may even exceeds Court's ability to spin a yarn. Enjoy HC but sit tight. |

I just ASSUMED that there would be a tour! What is actually happening on Thursday? I was really ONLY interested in seeing the new bikes and the factory. So what is happening??? The only HC I made it to was 2007 and I loved the meet and greet, but mostly the tour! I even had my X1 defaced by some guy.

In my case I was expecting a Tour because there is stuff to show off and no longer under the evil empires rule. We will still have a good time and they will have the 1190RS on display at Road America for sure according to Erik Buell Racing's facebook page. |

Sheesh. Tough crowd! I just received my RA ticket, have accommodations reserved from Tuesday thru Sunday. I'm blowing off work, leaving the phones at home and just plan to be there to go with the flow. I'm KINDA thinkin' I'll find SOMEthing to do. If it's "only" sitting outside the race shop and jawing with other Buell owners, I can do that, too! |

I will be doing what I can to help on Thursday. Even if I have to sign bikes for Eddy so he can keep the elves on schedule. Sometimes you just have to step up to the plate. I'm going to have fun. |

I do hope that they will at least park an 1190 out front for us to drool on.
