"His father worked as a cook for the British army in Kenya" That doesn't mean he didn't hate the British. He probably pissed in the tea. |

Trojan, you might be right about the Obama non-invite to the RW but who knows? I saw the look on Queenies face with Obama but she pretty much doesn't like anyone. Good luck when O'bama becomes your PM. You can have him. I would trade him for the brilliance and fortitude of Churchill anytime, anywhere. -Reindong. May 26, 2008. |

Trojan thanks for giving an honest depiction of English opinion in regards to our President. You will rarely get a rational thought on this side of the pond from either the dems or the Republicans as you can see on the thread. Us Dems hold him in a high regards, the Conservatives like to call us Socialists (their way of associating us with communist Russia with out saying it)for doing so |

Andy, to paraphrase DePalma's great movie, "Oh yeah, then you must be from Chicago". 1) Trojan gave a "depiction of English opinion", not an "honest depiction of English opinion". There is a difference. 2) No one on this board is calling all Democrats Socialist although some Democrats are Socialist. There is a difference. Socialism and Communism are failed and failing economic theories. There is rarely rational thought expressed in these threads except for posters like CityX, FatB, Sifo, etal. You may disagree with them but denying that their arguments are rational, is, well, irrational. I don't read Rocco, Crusty nor yourself as presenting cogent arguments. You would do well to emulate City/Fat/Si style and tell us why Liberalism is good for America. I am willing to listen but your only position tends to be SIN. If you don't know what that means, look it up. (Message edited by reindog on May 26, 2011) |

I have a friend from Britain that became a US citizen 5 or so years ago. He does not share trojans opinion and does not want EU's socialism for America. I apologized to him on behalf of Americans who don't want more government. Its pretty embarrassing. |

It was his grandfather who was the cook for the British Army. During the time of the Mau-mau and efforts to drive the colonials out. |

I dont know how much presure was put on the Queen to be there, I read her statment after her 1st. meeting with the Obamas when Michele grabed the Queen. later she told her staff to never let that woman in the same room with her ever a gain. The Queen has been around long enough to know that she doesn't have to like everyone that visits her at Buck House. However there does seem to be a genuine warmth between the Royals and the Obamas despite your assertion. The Queen would not state anything like that if there was ANY liklihood of it becoming public! She has been on the Throne too long to make a gaff like that. Behind the scenes the Obama kids were riding around the grounds of Buckingham palace in a carraige on their first visist, so it seems to have been a lot more informal and friendly than most 'official' visits. I have a friend from Britain that became a US citizen 5 or so years ago. He does not share trojans opinion and does not want EU's socialism for America. I apologized to him on behalf of Americans who don't want more government. Its pretty embarrassing. Which is probably why he left. Just like your country, we have lots here who don't like what our governemt is doing. Thats democracy foryou ![: )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/happy.gif) |

Which is probably why he left. That pretty much describes the population and ancestry of America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8Q1fDf0GeY&feature =related This and the speech from "Patton" are the height of patriotic cinema, IMHO. ( ok.... "Alexander Nevsky" gets props. ) |

So by "fining" coal energy producers, we will net billions of dollars for clean energy production. Same theory of pulling imaginary money of of thin air he comes up with most of his other programs. When is he going to learn to can't tax one industry to fund another! He even says clearly the coal plant would go bankrupt. And then what? You can't tax what is not there. You can't tax peoples income for jobs that do not exist. You can't rob from Peter to pay Paul, when you've done killed Peter. |

Obammer overcame like the ghetto and street life though so like you have to respect that man. Cough, snort, giggle, giggle, guffaw. That's freaking funny. You want the best looking one? Palin. She shoots, she rides, she's faced down the oil companies. Now, I'm not a fan, but if you go on the principal that the right person to stop the progressive agenda is the one they hate the most......... Best looking one....... damn. And here I thought all this time it was because McCain was just a crappy candidate chosen to be a loser. |
