I've seen no evidence of mean ol' bitchiness. Strong opinions from the Queen of the Universe of course. I'd like to see a test to vote. If you're not politically educated enough to know what you're voting on, then no vote. But, I see that blowing up really fast, seeing as how who would be making the rules... |

I did not mean to direct my comment toward any one person. It was a general statement based on how I know I'd react. Political opinions expressed on Badweb have caused a lot of people who were an asset to the Buell community to either get banned, or to leave voluntarily. There are people on this board who I have no desire to meet in person, and there are businesses that I have stopped dealing with because of political arguments. I consider this to be a loss on the part of both sides. I don't want to lose any more potential friends over something as ridiculous as a political argument. |

"No representation without taxation" hearkens back to Jim Crow laws (poll taxes, literacy tests, etc.) to me. Why do you think we abandoned those laws in the first place? The question is, which path do you believe contributes more to a "permanent underclass": 1.) a social welfare "safety net", or 2.) the complete disenfranchisement of society's poor & uneducated? |

Why do you let other people have so much power over you? I trust you are secure enough to 1) believe in your beliefs and 2) not everyone believes your beliefs. Badweb is multi-faceted so it is just plain dumb to leave it solely because of even dumber political arguments. Look at the technical support system of BW, look at the fund raisings on BW to support our troops, look at total strangers willing to drive a hundred miles to help a fellow Badwebber, look at Homecoming. The same can not be said of Sacborg which is solely inhabited by virtual "drunken hooligans" who have nothing to offer. Sorry to say, but Badweb Rocks! |

No-brainer: the Democratic Party waging class and racial warfare. The Democratic Party preaching victimhood and subservience to the Party as a means to "better ones self". Getting a majority of people to vote for free pizza which other people have to pay for ultimately leads to no pizza. We stand today at 47%. What say you? (Message edited by reindog on May 19, 2011) |

David, are you TRYING to ruin my reputation? Oh Crusty One, I don't think you will get banned for speaking your mind as long as we all remain respectful. Mr Kowski, you take all the color out of my words. They may seem black and white, but the thought behind them is not. The problem is that the "safety net" has become an umbilical cord of sorts. And I am not talking about discarding the poor and/or uneducated. One is not always associated with the other. You know Henry Ford was "uneducated". What I am talking about is helping folks gain the tools and knowledge to help themselves. Not just doling out money to every deadbeat that claims he/she is a victim and is entitled to someone else's hard earned money. |

Taking the vote away from the poor & uneducated isn't racial & class warfare? Do you think the 47% who paid no federal income tax voted for the candidates who offered them "free pizza" (increased social welfare benefits), or do you think they voted for the candidates who promised to lower their taxes? |

You can be poor and uneducated AND pay taxes and be part of the supporting cast member in the good old US of A. I am just saying you should have a vested interest if you want to have a say so in how things are run. |

Kow: You are starting to sound like David Gregory on "Meet the Depressed" and you playing the racial card is way, way, way passed old. No one here brings up race but you. So please stop your racist claptrap. No one here has brought up class division but you. Please reread that I said that everyone should have skin in the game by paying taxes in order to vote. 47% of households do NOT pay income taxes or get a tax credit. What do you not understand about this easy to comprehend fact? Your last sentence is illogical. People who pay no taxes have no interest in voting for someone who is going to lower what is already zero. But they will vote to add pepperoni on that already "free" pizza. Equating poll taxes which are illegal with Federal income taxes is a pretty lame stretch. But we are seeing this more and more lately by the Demonizers who yell "race" in order to halt an argument. You lose. |

There should be a minimum tax rate paid by ALL. 5% maybe. Any increase on the top should have a proportionate increase on the bottom. This permanent "recipient class" has to stop. |

"Damn City--- I sure wish you could show me how to do that. my grand son Has just spent 2 yrs and $30,000.00 getting his wife here." because she followed the rules.... fly into canada, walk across the border, nobody is paying any attention up north.... you think the southern border is bad.... pft. then all you have to do is show up at the local DSHS, drop a plea of persecution for religious or lifestyle issues (ie be gay) and badda fn bing. I get 3 translation calls a week for this racket. (and they gotta wonder why they are getting caught.... because I also consult with ICE and drop their name to a hot list in six months_) it is a bit of catch and release; and I get paid on both ends. the other one, and your grandson needs to watch out for this one, is that she claims spousal abuse and wants victim status (and it the majority of cases there is not any abuse at all) Get a lawyer, hide the assets, lock them down with St Thomas ownership. Trust me, I have seen it end bad too many times. It is why I am relocating there, and NOT bringing back a wife to America. want it to change ? start offing lawyers. (and the entitlement classes that are supported by them will dry up in their wake) |

Taking the vote away from the poor & uneducated isn't racial & class warfare? No, that's common sense. Thinking that it's class warfare and racist is marxist racism. If you don't know what uranium is, why would I want you to vote on how to store it? If you live on the dole, why would I want you to vote on how much of my money you get? seems suicidal to me. The question is, which path do you believe contributes more to a "permanent underclass": 1.) a social welfare "safety net", or 2.) the complete disenfranchisement of society's poor & uneducated? oops, the question contains the real answer. The disenfranchisement of society's poor & uneducated is caused by a social "safety net" that is designed not to help people out of poverty, but to keep them dependent on the Holy State. Now if you want to adjust the vote to exclude the welfare victims, you can't use tests or taxes. Both after a few seconds thought are unfair. How about? if you wish to receive tax paid life assistance, you must sign away your right to vote, since you no longer contribute to society. When we help you back on your feet, you can proudly reclaim your right to vote by rejecting further aid. Now you have to adjust the dole system so that each person who graduates from the State Womb back into the real world rewards the bureaucrat. The Current system rewards the bureaucrat for more people on the Dole. In fact, IMHO, the problem is best solved NOT by limiting the vote but by changing the incentives of the bureaucracy to reward THEM for citizens success & not failure. Unless you want the "Starship Troopers" solution to the franchise. I might go along with that. Worth a trial run. |

I always thought "one person, one vote" was common sense. A little more than 14% of the total U.S. population (consisting of roughly 50/50 white/non-white, for those of you who think I'm playing race cards) lives below the poverty line. Of that 14%, 65% is of voting age. That's a bit less than 30 U.S. million voters. Shall we assume that all of them receive some federal assistance? There are about 37 million citizens currently receiving retired workers benefits from SocSec. These folks are, naturally, of voting age. Another 10 million receive disability payments. Let's assume nearly all of them aren't "adult babies" and can vote. That totals 77 million voters out of a total electorate of around 220 million eligible voters. In other words, 35% of eligible U.S. voters receive one of the forms of federal assistance stated above. The turnout rate for the 2010 election was about 41%. The Republican party made big gains in that election. So... Is the "tyranny" of the "mooching & looting recipient class" perhaps overstated? |

There's a difference between social security and food stamps. There used to be a stigma, a shame to being on the dole. You didn't take it unless you really needed it and you got off it as soon as you could. Growing up we were on food stamps at one point growing up. We got the hell off the dole as quickly as we could. It's time we reintroduce the age old principal of shame back into the government assistance lexicon. |

Good one Glitch. You copy and paste a list floating around and I copy and paste an article and YOU tell ME to have an original thought? My God. Again. Ever been on state or federal aid? Ever on unemployment? If so, yet you believe others shouldn't be, you are a hypocrite. You believe in corporate welfare? You're okay with YOUR tax dollars going to companies that don't need it, yet are repulsed when it's used to help the less fortunate? I've stated it before. I don't believe in generational welfare any more than I believe in corporate welfare. But to be okay with one while vilifying the other is ignorant. I don't believe for one second that the freaks that get paraded around by the media are the norm in this country. I believe a vast, VAST majority would much rather be working and making a decent living. I believe in my fellow American workers. It's too bad that some here have taken a huge swig of Kool-Aid and feel that their fellow Americans are basically the human equivalent of crap. I feel sorry for you and your bleak outlook. |

The trend is clear. That is the issue. The ruin of what made America great in favor of "social justice.". What made America great was freedom to reap the benefits of one's efforts. Now we have gov't taking and "redistributing"; evil. Freedom to succeed or fail. F&$! the damned theiving nanny state"safety net". Family, friends, church, community are the only "safety net" we need. You cannot put such unfathomably large sums in the hands of anyone and maintain freedom. Excessive concentration of power always leads to oppression. How Can You Not See That ??????? |

It's easy Blake. Rocco doesn't believe in his fellow man. He sure as hell doesn't believe that anyone can and would take care of the needs of another without the coercion of government. And if they happen to be a person with belief in God, heaven help us! ALL assets belong to those who created them. Corporate wellfare? Really? So we give corporations back some of the taxes collected in order to encourage capital investment (to create jobs and grow the economy) and that's wellfare? Hey Rocco, you deduct your home interest? Deduct for your children? Deduct for charitable contributions? How about business expenses? Work truck? That make you a wellfare recipient? Still waiting for the breakdown of the "subsidies" given to the oil companies. Checking the weather report in hell too. Hey I'll give you a hint. $1.7B in tax breaks are given for oil companies to create and keep jobs in the US. Guess that's a bad thing, right? |

I always thought "one person, one vote" was common sense. Actually it's a pretty radical idea. Worked ok for a couple of centuries. IF you treat the freedom = responsibility truth as part of your philosophy. What you have to watch out for is the con that elitist authoritarians love. "one person, one vote" ( one time- since they won't give the power back once loaned to them ) Watch the "arab spring" countries become Islamist Theocratic dictatorships. |

Those are the same oil companies that are paying something like a 45% effective tax rate (about the highest among American companies) right? These are the ones set to create 5,000,000 new jobs of the Obamites would let folks drill? There has been ONE permit issued since the oil spill . . . but no need to worry . . . we'll be able to get oil . . since Obama gave billions to the Venezuelans and gave them rights to drill off our shores. And this is what got me banned from graduation. Social Security is nothing more than a digital registration and forced conscription of assets bilked to a future pay off that will not remit for my generation (Gen X) It is on par with the Nazi tattooing of the Jews before the slaughter; only digital in concept; feel better about your slavery. when the culling starts, and the purges begin - that registration number will me more than integral. Think about it, it is an identity brand on EVERY thing you do, buy, lend, borrow, lease, paid, or taxed. It might as well be a tattoo. |

So I drop my kid off at daycare today. Its been a long time since I have done this as the house dragon usually hauls the progeny around. I saw lots of new faces and mostly healthy looking kids running around. Random parent comes in with 2 children. The children look well fed but messy. As the parent goes to leave the kids are crying a little but not in English. Mom speaks to them but Not in English. Everyone at the daycare happens to be English speaking by the way. So no big deal right? Theres a ton of ESL kids everywhere. Well these kids were born here in NJ. The parents are from who gives a shit whatever but I bet New York. The daycare folks smile and say good morning and speak English to the children. So I am having a casual conversation with the teachers as the mother leaves. They say its a crime whats going on here. So Im like tell me about it. Both children attend daycare for free. In an inner city it would be referred to as an Abbot District. This isnt one so its called BCAP or some shit. Basically local county tax payers (you & me) are affording this mom who isnt teaching her kids English free daycare. What a bargain dude! Me the hardworking union slob you all love and the part time AF Reservist is paying $16,000 a year in daycare. This chick pays NOTHING for 2 kids. The teacher Im standing next to is irate now because she cant get a discount on her grand daughter to attend the facility. She has a brand new Ford Explorer. I have an 04 Subaru that looks like its been through hell a time or 3. This is why we are failing. Its a shame nobody gives a damn. |

KC, by definition, this looter and moocher is NOT an isolated case of Liberal hand wringing. She can only get these freebies through an established bureaucracy whose only goal is to grow larger by redistributing your labor to more of these bums. Visit ANY emergency room in Kalifornia and you will see the same thing. Liberalism IS a mental disorder and needs to be treated. |
