I won't mention that I got an invite to the BMW K1600 launch on the Gold Coast either huh. :-P |

One of my pals is 6'3" and he has owned one. He found it comfortable. I wasn't uncomfortable, (apart from needing a regular knee straightening) but I was a bit too folded up for track use. |

Good comparison article comparing the Striple against the SS (closer in size than the S): http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/model_eval/FEB06MCNbiket est1.pdf |

quote:The Triumph reached a maximum velocity of 143.3 mph to the Buell’s 126.8, numbers that don’t have any place on the street, but that do illustrate their respective muscle.
Those top speeds sound low to me. I know the Buell's is low. (Message edited by SIFO on May 13, 2011) |

I don't know, sounds pretty accurate to me, especially if they were headed into any kind of wind. The naked bikes do well up to about 70mph, then things start to get a bit windy. |

They even say that these speeds were at the rev limiter. That should be about 141 for the Buell shouldn't it. For purposes of retaining my CDL I have to disclose that I have no practical experience in this matter. |

Oh yeah, I've never been past the posted speed limit. Well, there was that one time, but I was younger, much younger... |

Yeah, I don't mind the wind up into the 130's. Then again, I'm built like a 55 gallon drum with arms. |

do ya got the rest?? Sorry. Bug Eyed Street Fighters Face Off--Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6 Page 7 I was surprised how similar the ergonomics were. When I sat on one, it felt VERY similar to an SS. It was the perfect fit for me. INSTANTLY felt comfortable. Want. HARD. |

Only if you are built like a whippet. Yeah well, I can only go by my experiences 6 feet at 160 lbs a whippet? |

6'5" and 255. 10 years ago I was twice that 160. To me the wind makes no difference till around 85mph and only then after about 3 hours of it. But you can't tour that fast for an extended period here. The roads are too twisty or too heavily policed. |

You pretty much have to run in the 70-80mph range if you're on the interstate in the ATL Metro area. Not a real problem for me as I avoid interstate travel and the metro area like the plague. I'm all about those twisties though! |

I had an '07 Speed Triple before I bought my 1125R. Excellent bike. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. |

I sat on an 08 or 09 before buying my xb12. Didn't like the seat to handlebar length compared to the xb. I couldnt find any reviews that mentioned they shortened this distance. The street triple felt like the xb however or at least more so than the speed triple. |

Johnny, you should go sit on the new S3. That single part of the ergonomics was what had me buying my XB instead of an S3 a few years back. The "fixed" it! |

Is there much vibration at idle and cruising felt through the handlebars? This is one thing I probably wont miss if I ever get rid of the xb. Not that it isn't cool initially but I think I could apprieciate a smoother engine sometimes. |

Much smoother than an XB. The XB vibes never bothered me, but I know what you mean. If I were buying a new bike tomorrow I would be really torn between the S3 and the Sprint GT. Either way you get the same power plant. Sometimes I think a bit of wind protection and bags would be nice. Most times I just like running around the neighborhood naked! |

For both Buells, I needed to move the handlebar position farther forward. I found the S3 position much closer to the "right" position for me. I am built like a silver back gorilla and have really long arms. Both my Uly and M2 have me alligator arms in "spirited" riding situations. |

OMG that bike really DOES make you a hooligan! Out on a test ride and you are already doing wheelies...ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!! ac |

I got to listen to one on youtube. Accelerating above 5K, it sounded a lot like my brothers Kawasaki H1 500...without the smoke. |

When I did the Triumph demo day ride (where the explicitly warn against doing such things) I just had to pull a wheelie. The bike was just begging for it. It wheelied much easier than my XB12Ss. It really does make one a hooligan! |

What's the service intervals and cost like on stuff like valve checks and adjustments? |

Everything is expensive to service compared to a Buell. Shims. |

Just took it back to the distributor. They were uncrating a new Guzzi V7 Racer while I was there. That looks great too. |
