Classmates.com's recurring billing policy is in clear violation of the
"Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act", S. 3386 signed into law in December

2010, section 4 specifically:

(4) not less than 10 days prior to the initiation of each charge to a
purchaser’s credit card, debit card, bank account, or other financial
account, the seller has sent the purchaser an e-mail (at an e-mail account
provided by the consumer) that clearly and conspicuously discloses–

(A) that a charge will be made to the consumer’s credit card, debit card,
bank account, or other financial account;

(B) the amount of the charge and a description of the goods and services for
which the consumer will be charged; and

(C) instructions for stopping recurring charges in accordance with the
requirements of paragraph (3).

Classmates did this to me a couple of months ago. The CC number they had expired and CitiBank gave 'em my new one.

I let Clasmmates know that Auto-renew is against the law as of December, 2010. They gotta sent you two notices first.

They refused to issue a refund 3 times by 3 different folks (all by email). Last email I asked for the contact info for their legal department. On that, they issued a refund "in exception to their policy."
