More than 23,000 people will soon be notified by their internet service providers that their subscriber information is being turned over to lawyers suing over the 2010 Sylvester Stallone flick The Expendables. They ought to charge them for wasting perfectly good bandwidth. I wanted to really like that movie, and it was awful. RED was the movie the expendables should have been... But I digress. Lock down those wireless access points people, otherwise *you* might get the letter intended for your neighbors kid... |

There are aps on the Android Market in which you can watch movies for free with the purchase of their app, They say they do not own the movies but collect them from the Internet, Would using these apps be illegal? |

Cyclonemick, which apps are these? I can look into them further for you. "Jetflicks" is legitimate, as are some other services that have deals with the movie industry.

+1! Bit torrent has its great legitimate uses, but if you plan on pirating it is the fastest way to end up with a nastygram telling you to fork over a settlement. |

It is a scam. I did some digging around, the way it works is the program links to pirated websites that let you view the videos. The app does everything you can already do for free, it just gives you a nice easy to use interface to do it. Currently the only legit method I know is Netflix, but that currently has only limited support. Doesn't even work on mine running Android 3.1 |

Thanks for looking out! Last thing I need is some letter in the mail requesting money owed!! Does not seem right that the people who run the site, openly break the law, charge unsuspecting clients and get away with it all under Googles and the Laws eyes!! |

If you are looking for the Google app store approval process to defend you, you won't last long. Thats the other side of the same coin. Its a hassle to get an app in the Apple app store, but if it's there, it has passed some non trivial level of review in terms of how it works and what it does. That makes the apple ecosystem far safer. It makes it far more locked down though, so while it stops some bad stuff, it also stops some good stuff where Apple has it's own agenda that isn't yours. On the whole, I've been happy with the compromise and think Apple gets it right much more often then it sticks it to me... but both approaches have drawbacks. |

I watch videos through Amazon, in the web browser on my Droid. Gotta turn off all other background stuff first or it's choppy. |
