On the way home tonight I noticed a HD with ape hangers coming my way. These guys never seem to 'wave' but I hung it out there anyway. Shocked! He waved back. Amazed, they normally assume I'm on a ricer and ignore me.
wow! really? Eric is doing awesome. We all know this is a great time for Eric Buell Racing. Do we have to still go here? I feel its making us look bad. IMHO.
I have rode a bike with apes for a good amount of road time. Wasn't my bike but, this one had enough flex that the front end didn't react for a half a second. You can still ride it agressivly and it is actually comfortable.
I know everyone thinks your arms would loose feeling but not true.
from apes to waves, you guys are hard to follow, could get whiplash.
It used to be rare to see another bike on the road, and we all waved then. Now, there is just too many bikes to wave at them all, I have to use my hands for the bike once in awhile.
I have ridden behind Barker when a giant, really wild Lt. Dan wave came over him. Good gawwd I almost crashed from laughing so hard!
If I recall he seems to emphasize the wave at small bikes and chrome couches, especially the one's who don't wave first.
I rode a friends modified chopped Honda CB550 a long time ago. It had 18" ape hangars, forward controls, raked out forks with no suspension other than flex, and only a rear brake. He was going for a cheap easy-rider look. He got it. Wada piece o crap to ride. I believe that even owning it about ten years, he only did about 200 miles total....including the mile and a half I did.
IMHO ape hangars suck. OK for drying clothes, but having ridden a couple of others over the years, I felt they could not give enough leverage for any kind of control in a bad situation.
wikid - if you don't like the subject then simply ignore. Apparently you have not had enough of this subject. I found it quite unusual and I commented. In general the closer I get to milwaukee worst the the HD riders seem to become. Makes homecoming lots of fun.
I met by chance another Bueller who lives locally a few weeks back, & we went out riding for the day with a couple of his buds yesterday.
2 XB's, a 1050 Triumph Tiger, & a 1500 Wing.
Smashing day great weather, great roads, good company & a 2-1/2 hr lunchbreak in a superb restaurant.
My left arm was tired from waving at folk though.
There's lots & lots of biking roads around here. Well most of them are actually. It's like living near the Dragon, but having the choice of scores of Dragons to ride.
Well the mighty Bonnie had plenty of gas and seemed to be running fine so I decided to take this waving thing to a whole new level. I rode up to the east side of Cleveland, rode thru the projects and threw gang signs. No one gave any back to me, but several young men must be into Triumphs as they chased me for a while in their cars pointing something at me.
