My response to him via email: "You said you were taking serious offers. I offer you a bit of history. Adolf Hitler died April 30th, 1945. As to concerning the bombings causing the close of the factory, that is false. Triumph produced motorcycles throughout the war, especially smaller singles. It was the twins that suffered. The only years production ceased were from 1984 through 1989. 1990 saw the Hinckley rebirth. How much plus this in trade? Thanks! Matt" |

When I first read the article I missed the date and thought 'what is this thread about exactly?' So I re-read it and caught the 54 date. I like History (in school to become a teacher of it now), but know that not everyone is a history buff. But some things should be common knowledge, like world wars etc In 1954 Hitler bombed the plant from his ditch with a bullet to the brain and a lot of fire damage.....yeah, that sounds legit hah |

I thought everyone would know who the mastermind behind 6 million plus tortures and executions. If there is one bastard everyone should know about, it is him. |

Malott - not related, but I have friends that are teachers (middle school) and they were surprised at how many students had no idea who Bin Laden was, only heard his name the other day in the news. It is crazy how little some people know of the world |

1940 Triumph's Priory Street works destroyed by German bombers on November 14 during blitz of Coventry. Initial batch of 50 350cc twins ready to go out are destroyed. This was the end of this model and motorcycles were never again built at this plant. The staff salvage all of the usable tools and parts from the rubble, only stopping when an unexploded bomb is found among the debris. The Blitz also destroyed all of Triumph's technical records, drawings and designs. Production moved to temporary location in Warwick, while a new factory on the Birmingham-Coventry road outside Meriden is being built. |

I'v heard it said that OBL is my generation's Hitler. Granted OBL didn't kill as many people as Hitler but in the realm of fear caused I'd say its pretty accurate. |

I'm not surprised at all that the kids don't know who OBL was. They don't mention him on Jersey Shore or American Idol. I certainly wouldn't expect the schools to teach it. It would conflict with their "America is the devil" agenda. |
