I have a very strong chance for a job in the Greensboro, NC area. Anyone know the area and if so, what are your opinions. Any information is appreciated |

Hit up Twig on C3. He lives in Greensboro and Prior is in Kernersville. If you end up moving, be sure to let us know on the Storm Fronts. You'll love mountain grass! |

Big tri-city (Triad) area: Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point. Fairly close shot out west to the Ashville area for riding. Kind of sprawling growth, like a lot of cities in the SE. Nice folks. |

Going up for a second interview in the very near future. Spent two days last week interviewing and looking around. Seems like a nice area but hard to tell in two days. Everyone was very nice. Coming from Florida, I hate the idea of paying a state income tax though. |

You'll still get year-round riding in NC, even if not 365/24/7. Winter rides are niiiiiice in those parts, and summers, well, you are coming from FL, so you know the deal. |

I grew up a half hour north on the VA line. Greensboro is were us country folk went to go see the picture shows. Some of my family still lives in the triad area. The "Triad" is growing and has lots of growth potential, but I have heard of record level foreclosures in Greensboro and surrounding areas. This could mean cheap real estate for you but I don't know what that means long term. Great riding towards to mountains Mt. Airy, Hanging Rock, BRP and one of my favorites Route 8. Videoninja is from Winston and still has a home there he has been trying to sell for over a year. He might be able to give insight into the housing market. |

Im in the Triad, only half hour from GSO Greensboro isnt a bad place, but depending on where the business is, maybe look into living in Kernersville or some suburb right outside of GSO. I know a few years ago Greensboro was really high on the 'dangerous cities' list or something, but I've never had any issues in the area. Not sure what interests you, but Greensboro has a pretty happening night life from what I understand Youre not far from the mountains, some awesome riding in the area Where are you interviewing at? Feel free to PM me, maybe we can get up sometime |

Hybredmomentspass, I'll email you later from home when I can get to my personal email. Does anyone have any comments about the local HD dealer? They have 4 or 5 Buells listed in their Used Inventory page. Are they Buell friendly and competent? |

Greensboro is good, and there are some very nice suburb areas with reasonable real estate options. I lived for 25 years in Winston Salem so I know the triad area well if you have any questions shoot me a pm |

Yes, I've been in Greensboro my entire life. Hard to say if you would like living here or not, depends on what your interests are. There are plenty of nice city parks, several big fishing/boating lakes, safe biking trails. Crime seems to be a bit better than recent years, mostly armed robberies. Watch out for the arrogant, crappy and rude drivers. We got 'em all! If I were to pick out a new place in G'boro to live, it would be in one of the several suburbs. Colfax, Summerfield, Stokesdale would be my choice. All are on the NW side. Don't even think about the central east side. Bad news and high crime. There are still plenty of wide open country roads in the area if you just want to cruise around, but you can also head for the hills and hit the Parkway in 90 minutes or so. Several different back routes are available. All of them are good! Good luck with the job, maybe we'll cross paths! |

GSO HD - I've not dealt with them much due to high prices and horror stories example - I know a guy who was a service tech at their HP location (since shut down, as well as the other dealership they had), he was working on a firebolt, not sure if it was a 9 or 12. SO he finishes the bike and needs to take it on a test ride to make sure its ok, he pulls out of the dealership, makes a right, goes the length of the dealership (not far) and makes a right to get on the highway. As he does this is whacks it WOT on the cold tires. The back comes around and he goes for a tumble, totalling the bike. He blamed the 'bad tires that buell sells on their bikes' I was also quoted 14.5 for a 1125R, I paid 12,6 at another local dealer. I've heard too many bad stories about the place - sure, I'll pick up a part if I am in the area, but wont take my bike there for service. Ever. |

Zane, We're in Kernersville and moved here a little over two years ago for work. I like the area, weather is good, good roads are close and we've got Greensboro and Winston close by for restaurants, bars etc. I chose Kernersville because we found a great piece of property here, and because it's not Greensboro or Winston- less traffic, people etc. We did a LOT of house hunting around the Kernersville area, drop me a line and I can help out any way I can. Greensboro Harley- my Uly is there now for a warranty harness replacement as well as a few other warranty items, so time will tell. I did have a few other warranty things taken care of at their High Point dealer and had no complaints at all. Tilley's in Statesville would be my choice if I were to spend my own money to have a bike worked on, but I do my own stuff or by the tools to get the job done. I've got a pretty ample collection of tools (being an engineer is a blessing and a curse sometimes) including a tire changer, so certainly can help out with some stuff. I'm not set up with ECM spy and all of that stuff though. Look me up in the BRAN if you'd like to chat or drop me a line. Prior |

Latest news flash. The hiring committee has listed me as their choice so I go back next week and talk to the college VP. If I don't step on my own crank in that interview, I can expect an offer. My job title would be “Applications Development Manager”. I can become a full-fledged Uber geek. I’m pretty excited about this. I haven’t have a full time permanent gig since last September. I’m doing some contract programming but prefer a perm situation. I have close friends that used to live in GSO. They have offered their house as a rental. It’s very close to Guilford College. In fact the back yard butts up to some vacant property the college owns. I’d be working at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown. It’s about a 10 mile commute from my friend’s house. When time allows, I want to ask a few questions off line. Thanks people. |
