http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2011/03/07/bottp ower-xr-1-leftover-buells-transformed/ Seems like a good project if one balls up the original frame. (Message edited by baybueller on May 01, 2011) |

Oh goody! Now the Mutant Chopper craze has hit the XBs. Wonder how lont it will be before we start seeing lots of body work, tail sections and frames for XBs. |

hardly a mutant chopper. Looks like it will still handle well and looks good too. |

They do claim to keep the original Buell geometry.
quote:We don’t pretend this bike to be a pure flat tracker. The idea is to have the good handling and the funny riding of a Buell with a certain flat tracker look. The bike geometry is the same of the Buell, that’s why we keep the engine in the same position.
I'm not sure what "the funny riding of a Buell" means though. |

There was a thread on these on the XBoard a few months back. I'll bet the quote above was intended to "fun" riding of Buells; English is not these guys' first language. |

I suppose if you had one with a totaled frame, it would be a good project. |

As far as computer drawings go, it does look interesting. Unfortunately, the reality is that it would never compare to the "Donor" bike in performance or durability. This may be nit-picky, but a lot of effort and $$$ went into the development of the XB frame and powertrain. This 'drawing' is lacking in both areas, look at the induction system (from down draft FI to ??), as well as the frame (or lack there of), not to mention the subpeanut gas tank. I support your right to do what you want with your project, but I hope that their is not a trend of Buells being nothing more than a rolling parts kit for someone's 'custom build'. |

This is more of a ripoff of a Wakan I wonder how they removed the extra 28 lbs and the Wakan's weight is no fuel. |
