Me would thinks with an IQ of 170 (or even close) you could figure out how to get what you wanted for the cheapest price available. I got two cheeseburgers for the price of one yesterday, do I qualify?
you know that is just pure discrimination; little jimmy has his self esteem hurt because he is not smart, I wonder if the ACLU will take up his lawsuit action case?.....
When you refer to the Mensa test ride, are you questioning whether people have taken a test to see if they qualified, or taken time to hang out with the people that are members?
I've met a few that hang "serious" weight on their membership (or should that be on their clear superiority to other mere mortals) and that certainly turns a person off. And for the record I do indeed exceed their minimum requirements in IQ score, common sense, and in lack of arrogance about how smart I am. My humble estimate is that more than 50 percent of the people who regularly post here would easily meet the minimum IQ requirements.
Greg, I agree. There are some pretty fart smellers here..... with common sense to go with it. Took the test long ago, thought it was a joke. It wasn't that tough. Then I met some members and totally agree with most of the previous assessments. Most were Huge ego'd asshats. I was never really interested in joining, just wanted to see what the fuss was about. They should have had a cop out side directing traffic (not much really) "Nothing to see here, move on...".
I'm a member. I'm not sure what the actual "value" is...you do get to interact with a different group, new contacts, friendships, etc. As far as benefits, nothing really tangible in my experience (it didn't get me a raise or promotion, nor open a vast array of new opportunities). I debate whether it is worth renewing every couple of years, but end up doing it anyway.
It's not how smart you are, it's how you use it (wait... that's not quite right). A couple of others of note: natalie portman raven (Madonna, believe it or not), shakira
