Actually, the oil industry was shut down after the BP spill as a reaction to it... and I also do not agree with that as a policy as well... The re-structuring and re-licensing of off shore wells in the Gulf needed to be concurent with the investigationa and cleanup efforts... Jobs going abroad started happening in mass long before Obama... Sorry I can't respond to the rest of your post as it doesn't really make sense to me... |

Char, if you think big money isn't behind *both* sides, you are kidding yourself. Republicans just lie about that fact less. I also don't think its a solvable problem. When everyone wants *something*, those with means will more successfully find ways to achieve those ends. By lobbying people, by lobbying government, by creating organizations, you name it. Big money will always be one sure path to big influence. As will "big religion", "big media", "big educational institutions", "big actors", "big unions", etc. It's a bipartisan problem for sure, and I think the solution is probably more about making it transparent then trying to eliminate it. Otherwise you are just trying to dig a basement below the water table... |

I am positive the ban on massive oil production on the north slope pre-dated Obama (I remember working to support it in the late 1980's) and the BP spill as well (2010 just in case you were wondering)... so I don't really see how that is related either... I believe we need to open the north slope up... very slowly with a decent and unbiased Environmental Impact Statement study as well... if such a thing actually exists... |

I like how the lefties always change the subject from "natural Born" citizen to just citizen. There are many experts that are currently debating the subject of exactly who is "natural born" citizen. There currenty is only one class of citizen who is deemed "natural born" by every expert. Both parents were citizens at the time of birth and the birth was on american soil. Every other option has been questioned by several real constitutional experts. There is no definitive legal determination on these other choices. Obamas Natural born status is in question as was McCains. No court ever ruled on either. Technically we had a fraudulent election and are entitiled to a "do over" just because the US Senate knew of McCains' questionable status and allowed the election to proceed. |

Big money was behind Hillary Clinton and John Kerry for sure... I was not making a generalization about the Democratic Party there... I was talking about Obama in particular... But I guess people can fabricate evidence of that... when you have a news reporter that spews out that "wasn't meant to be factual" and he gets no censure for it... |

Well now, the "left" doesn't want US tobacco companies exporting overseas and taking advantage of the weak dollar, as it might harm someone's health. On the other hand, the "left" stopped mineral extraction, drilling for oil, etc, here n the US because it might harm someone's health, and now the no-enviro rules in the developing world are polluting water, toxifying other countries, harming children like in the Nigerian delta around leaking oil rigs. The "left" enjoys shooting itself, and every sordid domestic capitalist enterprise, in the foot. |

"natural born" The only "expert" that would matter on the definition of this term is the Supreme Court. They have never defined the term nor have then been asked to AFAIK. The birther crusade was a waste of time and in many ways a disgusting appeal to many peoples latent racism. |

As his FATHER was NOT an American citizen, and as his original birth certificate was for some reason MIA, then it was a 100% valid question. 2. I have no doubt that if Obama were white, the issue would have been raised just as vigorously. Your racist accusation is despicable to me and deeply insulting to thoughtful American patriots everywhere. The man was elected president. How !#@$%ing racist can America be? I agree about the waste of time. Why the @#$% didn't Obama release his birth certificate from the start? Please answer that. The whole thing stinks. |

Sorry Dave but you are wrong on the Supreme Court. they have been asked repeatedly to rule on this subject and have declined to take up the case. Lots of federal courts have been avoiding this case because for hundreds of years the court system have been blind tools of the popular political ideology of the day. The birther movement and the tea party movements are about returning this country to a constitutional republic. If they don't start showing real signs of success soon you will become aware of the next phase. Real militias which will be returing to the declaration of independence, not the constitution, for their guidance. |

I usually don't get involved in brawls, but I think the subject of who is a citizen is established law. I don't think it gets any clearer than this.

Citizenship is not the issue. The issue raised is the question of "natural born" citizenship, the constitutional prerequisite for presidential candidates or those in line to succeed to the presidency. |
