This was posted on Erik's F/B sight Sat. Did no one post it? Quote: Erik Buell, Certainly would love to do something like that one day. I LOVE dirt bikes - even if one threw me on the ground hard on Sunday 8^) http://motorcyclist.automotive.com/110296/122-0905 -buell-motocrosser-off-road-concept/index.html F/B page: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1 98291330208647&id=1669824900 |

I never did find a date when this magazine article was posted. Is it recent? |

Erik actually mentioned a possible Erik Buell Racing dirt bike last year: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/270 985/606364.html?1300084767 It's not the same article linked above. (Message edited by Hughlysses on April 26, 2011) |

He also mentioned this at the Craftsman Experience. |

without lights, plate, signals, mirrors and an MSO for dualsport capability, I am refusing to be excited. electric start would be killer too... shiate while were dreaming how about a sumo conversion kit. I am not putting a bike in the back of a truck to go riding in the woods. It is a waste of a perfectly good motorcycle, and a misappropriation of the trucks bed. |

When they come out with a dual sport, it'll sell (one to me - the poor DRZ400 is really thrashed) |

That was my position too. It took almost 25 minutes laying in the bore of an MRI machine looking up at that big GE logo before I changed my mind. If that hadn't done it, the surgery would have. If that hadn't done it, the rehab would have. If that hadn't done it, trying to choose if I ruin good dirt tires by running on the street, or choosing to ruin a good dirt ride using street tires might have. It probably depends on the kind of trails you ride though... Everything in Ohio is hills and slippery mud with narrow little winding single track. I'd love to have one in street trim though... detuned for durability and fuel economy, but a fun little curb jumper wheelie monster. Do it right for the street and make the first two gears too low, and the top two gears too high. |

Dirt bikes are a tough nut. Even BMW, who's been striking gold with about everything they do, canceled their 450x. It even had some of the innovative things I'd expect Erik to come up. The bike you want for the Ohio woods is not the one I want for the mojave desert; which explains why KTM makes so many different models. I want to buy another Buell but not a dirt bike. Build a good adventure/sport/touring bike and he'll sell at least two (Crusty wants the other one). (Message edited by strokizator on April 26, 2011) |

The green's took all of our places to ride MX in Wichita. I had nothing against golf till all the good places to ride around here turned in to golf courses. Damn waste of good motocross track...... At one point I didn't know what there was more of around here. Convenient stores or golf courses. |

Yeah, Well, Cityslicker, I think you would only do it once. The fine is $5000 the first time and 3years in jail the second. I didn't do it but I know someone who did. |

Thats if you survive, those 1% type golfer clubs are real bad boys dontcha know. They might drag you out behind the 19th hole and do some very nasty things to you.....like make you drink tap water instead of bottled water. I didn't do it but I know someone who did. Wasn't it a friend of some guy you met at a bike shops somewhere. |

No, actually we used to ride together on those places when I was around 19 or 20. He got into allot of trouble back then. So I ended our friendship. Last, I had heard he was in jail for street racing and a DUI. |
