Today one of my best friends lost her Daddy while he was riding his motorcycle. He had been to pick strawberries with his mother earlier in the morning. He was heading home and never made it. It's been a rough day. Last July they buried his wife Dottie. This family needs all the prayers than can get. http://www.kinston.com/articles/motorcycle-73158-f atal-potentially.html |

Aww heck Kristi- so sorry to hear this. Prayers up for you and those affected. Also the elderly lady who did the classic manouever, left turn against traffic. The article mentioned the same last name for the lady who caused the crash and the CO for the police... |

So sorry for the loss. Prayers out for the family and friends. Chances are the lady should not have been driving. Yearly testing after 75 should be standard just to make sure these elderly folks can see and hear well enough to drive. |

Heart breaking. So sorry to hear this. Prayers to the family. Unfortunately, as more people transition from four to two wheels in an attempt to save on fuel costs, we may be hearing more of this too common scenario playing out on our roads. Badwebbers, please ride like you are invisible. We can educate novices and re-educate experienced riders to be aware of avoiding this situation, but until we get the millions of other cagers to watch for us and keep their focus on the road, and for drivers and their families to take accountability for keeping people who should not be driving off the roads, this will keep happening. |

Ride like you are invisible, and wear all your gear all the time! The drivers are not going to get better. Man I wish we had mandatory gear wear here like everywhere where motorcycles are taken seriously as transportation. The risks are high when riding, and every time I see someone in a bandana, or backwards ball cap and shades my gut flips over. Death just waiting for the next texting driver... |

Thanks for the prayers for the family. Mike was like an extra granddaddy to many of the kids around town. He was a good man and will be missed by so many. As a reminder to all, check your gear...is it in good shape? Is it road (or fall) worthy? Does your helmet fit well? How old is your helmet? Please make sure all of your gear is prepared to take the hit for you if you need it. I retired my helmet yesterday as it had started to "lift". I only noticed it once I began riding solo, it was not noticeable when riding behind Carlos. After Mike's accident I started looking at all of our gear and taking some of it from "active duty". I don't want my family to go through what Mike's family is just because of ill-fitting gear. |

Hang in there Kristi. Sorry to hear about your friend. It is never good when this sort of stuff happens. My friend Victor got killed years ago on a bike, and I still think of him often. Call me if you need an ear to listen to you. |
