Carol had a crash in Tennessee. She is ok. Jerry is also ok. I am not sure where they are in Tennessee. She had a collision with Jerry at 70 mph and slid down the highway on her front. They are still at the hospital and she couldn't talk. I hope to find out more from her tomorrow to see if there is anyone in their area in Tennessee if they need some help. They rode down from the Chicago area. THANK GOD THEY ARE BOTH OK ! |

I'm glad they seem to be okay, but it's still a mess to be that far from home and something like that happen. I'm down in the bottom corner, and would imagine they would be coming thru the North part of TN. If I can help-42377989330 |

I just checked Facebook. Yes, it is Carol and Jerry from Illinois. They have the logistics worked out. Happened near Harman, Tennessee. Carol hurt her hand pretty bad and got bruised up too from sliding on the pavement. One of her sons is driving her home and Jerry is riding home tomorrow. Hopefully she will be able to post up here when she gets home. Give her some love if you hear from her. I am heading out to Deal's Gap this morning so I may not have any internet access till Monday night. |

This sucks. They are two of the coolest people I've met. We rode in some really hard downpours in Suches at MB5. Heal up quick, guys. Glad it wasn't worse. |

Hey guys..I am alive and not so well here at home now. I hurt lots AND I could be be typing with my normal hand if I had only listened to jerry and wore my gloves but i didn't and my right hand is pretty scuffed up. My left rib cage is really bruised and moving is really painful...But hey I am 56 years old and i have lived thru a 200 ft interstate slide at 70 mph to talk about it. THANKS TO ATGATT! The hospital was amazed, the ambulance and the cop was amazed! Oh..how did it happen? Jerry checked up because the car ahead of him slowed down. i made the mistake of riding right behind him at that moment and i rear ended him. He said we were traveling 70-75 mph. Thank God I did not get run over by a semi after I landed. Thanks for all the well wishes. God was definitely with us! |

It's good news to hear things worked out so well. Gloves are one, in my personal opinion, of the most overlooked elements of proper safety gear. The example I have used with folks is to recall when you were young, riding that tricycle, and the darn 3-pointer tipped over . . . . We, as humanoids, are instinctively programmed to shoot our hand out as an instant reaction to anything going wrong. Gloves, like condoms and helmets, belong on the "never scrimp on" list in life. Good to you both of you on the mend. Court |

Looks like that HJC helmet did it's job. I agree with Court. Gloves are the second most important piece of riding gear. Never mind a 70 mph wreck, in even a low speed wreck, your head may not even contact the ground, but your hands ALWAYS do. |

I agree with Court on the gloves... but I've never even thought of wearing a condom while I ride... that guy does believe in protection... somehow I don't think it would have helped Carol much. |

will try and post pics later. jerry says the shift lever is ground plum off and case is cracked. The rest is pretty much cosmetic. Buells are great bikes! Even for wrecking! And I could KICK MYSELF for the no gloves. I have books loaded on my ipod touch and i kept the gloves off so i could operate it. Last time for that! |

>>>>I have books loaded on my ipod touch and i kept the gloves off so i could operate it. Should have checked with me . . . I'd have shown you how I put a split in the very end of the index finger of my Held glove . . so I can put "skin on the screen". I've got a bag of tricks I'd be drummed from the site if I shared . . .
