This must-have piece of real-deal Made in the USA biker gear is being offered-up by Henrik Bo Pedersen: Says Henrik: The Schott Perfecto was - at the time - the ultimate "biker" jacket. As you can see of the pictures, it is now only a memento or a "walk to the bar" kinda jacket. The leather is ok, but I would not trust it to hold up to a slide, not to mention the stitching is gone in one armpit, some wear and tear on one sleeve etc. So a "novelty" item only. Not in any way shape or form a piece of protective gear. There's a bit of paint on both sleeves. I bought the jacket used some 18 years ago, and the paint was already there. Never found anything that'd get it off :-) After taking these pictures I washed/wiped the jacket with oil soap, and gave it some Vanson Leather Balm. Looks and feels pretty good. I also sprayed the liner with some "de-stink". Like, kewl! Starting bid $50. This auction is to benefit Jim & Tonya Rainey, to help them cover medical expenses, etc. 100% of the winning bid amount will be forwarded to them. Auction ends Friday, 4/22/11 at 10 p.m. Eastern, i.e. BadWeB time. Please dig deep, peeps - this is for a great cause. Thanks Henrik!! |

I guess I can expand a bit on the history of the jacket, if that helps to entice someone to bid. When I moved to New York City from Denmark in 1992, first thing I did was start looking for a used Harley. Just had to have one. In my search I came across a 1984 FXRS: last year of the Shovelhead motor and first year with belt drive. I *loved* that bike, and of course had to have the leathers to match. I didn't have the $$ to buy new so I scoured the Lower East Side second hand shops and found the beauty you see above. Great fit, stylin' like all get-out, and the real deal: Schott Perfecto. I owned that bike and rode in that jacket for 6 years, and covered probably close to 25k miles. Most of it in the Catskills and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 3 of us (bike, jacket and I) had some spectacular times together. But now it's time for someone else to enjoy the jacket. I gave it a loving send-off with an oil soap wash and some Vanson Leather Balm so it's ready for it's new owner. Bid high, bid often, Ride safe, Henrik |

Marlon Brando wore a Schott Perfecto in "The Wild One" http://www.schottnyc.com/about.cfm The Schott Perfecto was apparently the jacket of choice for James Dean, the Ramones, Joan Jett, Blondie and the Sex Pistols Henrik (I almost want to buy it back now) (Message edited by henrik on April 18, 2011) (Message edited by Henrik on April 18, 2011) |
