That's REALLY cool Dave! I really like at 10:00 minutes. The gal wants to be on the back of the scoot now, and the Suzuki is my first choice of the cruisers. I like the m109. I think the styling is right on. The bike is HUGE. Most say it handles well for the size. Whats your take? I'll probably be shopping for one to join the Buell in the stable soon.
I'll see if she can handle the back of my 12R first.
For just a pictures and music thing it was a little long. An interview here and there to break it up would have been nice. One with the blue NOS tweaked machine's owner would have been good, and a few others with people attending the event talking about why they were there. And yes pay one time audio for synchronization can be very expensive. If you have any musical talents, check out the Sony Acid products, they are pay one time (but cheap) royalty free loops that you use to compose your own music. There are a lot of junk loops in the collection, but there are also a lot of really good ones. Most of the cinematic series are good and would lend themselves to the type of work that you are doing.
DD, What are you shooting with and how did you mount it. I have been going back and forth with my ContourHD and my DSLR (nikon w/12-24). I haven't really got it worked out yet.
Greg Yeah its just a slide show mainly for the people who attended the rally, but thought some of you might like to see some of Northland NZ
My brief was actually take the still images and a 600 word article for the mag - there was another video crew doing interviews and human interest. This was just 'supplementary' visuals for our web site: http://www.kiwirider.co.nz/
I do make my own music sometimes - I have several loops collections in 'garage band' and my own guitars - but the professional stuff is much better. I use some midi files occasionally too, but I do try and respect copyright. Do unto others and all that.
The shockwave sound 'cd' was $100 but at least i don't have to sweat on you tube yanking the sound and I can use it for a variety of commercial apps too.
Slowride - the Camera is a Go Pro Hero with a handlebar mounting kit and the stills are from my Nikon D90. Stills: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kiwirider/sets/721576 26465321330/ Happy with the Go Pro. It's not perfect and it's easy to mess up, but for the coin it's a good result.
Gnut - The back of a M109R is not good. The seat is OK, but the pegs are high and the ride is harsh. 240 rear and limited suspension travel. Needs a gel seat and backrest to be viable for anything but a compact passenger. It's a rider's machine. Screwing it on and spooling it up is very tasty. It could do with more ground clearance to match the outstanding schtonk of the engine, excellent handling and brakes.
That's the nice part about the Acid loops, they are royalty free. Everything is either standard 16 bit wave file or better 24 bit wave files so they will go into any audio application. I haven't used Garage Band for loops, so I'm not sure how it would compare. Acid is nice because it shows measures and automatically shifts the loops into the selected key and select number of beats per minute. You can then select different key changes and speeds to form the final product. There is a free version called Acid Xpress which limits to ten tracks and only outputs mp3, but it will provide really high bite rate VBR mp3 files that still sound pretty good when you output them. There are also free weekly sampler packs of loops, some of them are decent, as well as discounts provided for Acid Planet members (free membership required to download Acid Xpress). We have most of the loops at work for a class we teach so I have a good idea which loops are decent and which are junk. Just check the licensing on each package to make sure it has no strings attached, some of them do restrict use but most are do as you please once you buy the disk.
Garage band is pretty powerful (For a freebie), key shifts (manually) scales and timekeys. I mainly use it as a drum machine for banging on my bass. But it assembles tracks and loops quite nicely. I have two of the Jam Packs of add on's too. Same deal
The preference to buy is about recognizing the operator's limitations.
