HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK 1. Open a new file in your computer. 2. Name it "Barack Obama". 3. Sent it to the Recycle Bin. 4. Empty the Recycle Bin. 5. Your PC will ask you: "Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?'" 6. Firmly click "Yes". 7. Feel better? |

Cool, just need to make a zip file called DEFICIT.ZIP and try to unzip it, and delete all of the little unneeded files and rename it to SURPLUS.ZIP |

as much as I am not a fan.... I have the severe intense suspicion that he is nothing more than the man behind the curtain, and the machine is much bigger than any lever he thinks he controls. |

I have the severe intense suspicion that he is nothing more than the man behind the curtain, and the machine is much bigger than any lever he thinks he controls. You don't need to be suspicious of reality. Money runs the show. Always has. Sorry to hijack your thread, Lightstick. But honestly, if you think changing presidents really makes that much difference, you may as well admit that the USA is a dictatorship - since by thinking that a president can do that much to or for a country, you are giving a president pretty much dictatorial power. But hey, if it makes you feel that much better, go for it :-) (Message edited by fahren on April 14, 2011) |

He can sign massive new expensive entitlement programs. He can choose supreme court justices. He has control over the entire executive branch including the armed forces, the intelligence community, the entire justice department including the FBI, the ATF, the EPA. The president can pretty much ruin the country if congress lets him. Thankfully we now have a congress that won't. It's a bit late though. Time will tell. |

"If Congress lets him." Four of the most important words you could have uttered in this context. My point was that we should all pay way more attention to all the other elections state local and federal, rather than swallowing what is force fed us every four years as the presidential election circus comes to town. Find out about who is running for these offices, what do they believe, will they be effective, will they fight for things you also believe in. I'm not trying to belittle all the executive powers granted to the President by the Constitution - it's a big, important job. But it was always supposed to be held in tight check (and balance) by the other branches - as designed by a bunch of dead white guys who were really, really careful to avoid too strong a tyrant ruler dictator king emperor whatever. |

I understand with his current popularity numbers Kenya is now claiming Barack was born in Hawaii. |

I would like to congratulate the lovely, vivacious, well toned, and marvelously dressed First Lady for her support for the troop's families. She and the "second lady" ( Jill Biden ) are touring the country bringing cheer and words for families. A bit of chaos for base commanders, but that's not the First Lady's fault. Not like the Potempkin garden, the blistering condemnation of fatties, ( notice she hasn't been on Oprah, lately? ) and the shopping sprees in foreign capitals while staying at the finest Hotels with he Best Room Service. ( can't really blame her for that either. Security concerns make it impractical for her to stay with her largish staff at a Super 8, and eat in restaurants not covered by sniper and light armor support. Hmm. Kobe Beef, Lobster Bisque, Kale. Yum. ) Never mind the 2+ year delay in the beginning of the support for troops families after declaring it a priority. Exploiting her children's invisible weight problem, ( and scarring them for life ) was a crisis that could not be delayed. Oh!, and more good news. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/04 /joe-biden-update-awake-now.html http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/04 /obama-deficit-speech.html |
