U4 I hope this comes as some sort of comfort. My brother had gone through a series of blood clots in his right leg. The pain was searing and he could not put any pressure on the leg without increased pain. That has been a few years ago. It was a long process but recovery was complete and he is back to normal life again. You will beat this!!!!!!!!! |

Got a text from Jim! He send his thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. He's gonna have another surgery tomorrow to help restore the blood flow to his foot. No details yet but will post after I speak with Tonya later tonight. Keep praying! |

Kristi . . . goes without saying we're going to need an address if he's gonna hang around the hospital for a while . . . No Bueller left behind. We're a rootin' for him in NYC and keeping him and his family in our prayers. |

Court & Glitch - I'll keep you posted. I'm hoping to have a better idea today of how long he may be at UNC. Thanks for all the prayers. Jim and Tonya are very special people to us. I told him last night that if I had a magic wand, I'd wave it over him and all would be good! Wish life was that easy sometimes. Badwebbers are truly the best when it comes to support and sharing! |

Update from Tonya! Blood clot in Jim's leg is gone and the artery is now functioning as it should! With that being said, they now think he has a blood clot in his abdomen where they removed the kidney. They are thinking about re-opening him. He's in a lot of pain. Pray that they can find some answers and relieve his pain. Still praying for a donor kidney too! We hope to get up there to see him Sunday. Bigdaddy is planning to head that way tonight. |

Kristi, we (BadWeB) need to start getting educated on the process of donating a kidney... Tonya and I will talk about that this Sunday. It's too much to text and that's been our sole means of communication so far! I will let you know what I find out. I know she and some friends are about to start the testing process. |

Thx Kristi. The idea of donating a kidney has already crossed my mind, and I just got an e-mail from a mutual friend of ours wondering, in essence, whether we should start a "Let's find U4euh a kidney!" drive here on BadWeB. Please keep us posted. |

start a "Let's find U4euh a kidney!" drive here on BadWeB. We've done a lot here on BadWeB that people never thought possible! We're not beyond trying! |

Blood clot in Jim's leg is gone and the artery is now functioning as it should! With that being said, they now think he has a blood clot in his abdomen where they removed the kidney. They are thinking about re-opening him. He's in a lot of pain. Damn, Jim just can't catch a break. I guess this is a tough situation for the docs; on one hand they don't want him to start bleeding from the surgery they just did, OTOH he's getting blood clots. The meds that fix one make the other worse. Jim is the only man I know that had balls enough to try to stay up with Erik Buell himself on highway 129 in north Georgia. If anybody can get through this, it'll be Jim. |

Yep. That was one seriously awesome ride. Rubberdown was the chief instigator. About 4 turns before Jim's get-off it occurred to me "Seriously dude- are you REALLY trying to keep up with Erik Buell?" and I backed off. I don't think that thought occurred to Jim until he was backing his XB into the dirt at ~50 MPH! No BS, I think that'll be the coolest story I can truthfully tell ~20 years from now when my grandkids are asking me "did you ever do anything interesting on your motorcycles grandaddy?" Rubberdown was the chief instigator. No, really? Those two together are scary! |

Spent some time with Jim this evening and his pain was "better." He's one tough hombre so it is really hard to quantify how he really feels. I told him that I would report in and I have his OK to say 'looks like crap, but he was smiling and talking about motorcycles, dogs, trucks, kids and fighting the fight.' We need to continue our prayers. I will check in with him tomorrow and report back. |

Update from Tonya last night around 11:30: They had to cut him open tonight cause he was full of blood clots in the cavity they took the kidney out of. So right now he is sleeping good for once. I hope that this surgery will allow Jim to start to feel better. Of course he's still doing full dialysis 3 times a week. Hugh - thanks for the link! Will get it moved to the top when I'm not posting from a phone! Keep those prayers coming! |

Thanks Ferris and Hugh! The contact at UNC is Ann Littz. Her number is 919-966-3079, Mon-Fri 9-5. If you make contact with her, you'll need to let her know that you're calling on behalf of Jim Rainey. |

Just want to share some good news. I just got back home from Chapel Hill after a nice visit with Jim and Tonya. Jim is feeling and looking great today. He's been thru alot these past few days. As Kristi said, they did have to open him back up yesterday to to relieve alot of fluid buildup. Damn, it was so nice to see him bright-eyed this morning. I almost teared up. He told me was pretty much out of it from the meds when Bigdaddy saw him last night, but he did remember the visit."Today is the best I've felt since I've been here". They were getting ready to get him up on his feet for a walk as I was leaving. He also told me he will be back on his bike in four weeks. I'm sure he will be. He's hoping to be released on Monday, Tuesday at the latest. Jim, you are one tough cookie. See ya again soon. |

Best from across the pond. & remember all, carry a donor card & tell your next of kin, so even if you don't make the last turn, you can help someone like Jim to do so.
