I am in a store browsing around at motorcycles... I come out and see someone leaning on my car,.. I ask politely for him to not lean on my car... he looks at me like I am intruding on his rights and moves away,.. I say thanks man... and go back inside. Of course I come out,.. he is gone and there is a huge scratch on the door. WTF.

Oooooooo - that dude had seen some Harley ads or something, and needed to show you the badass lifestyle he had just purchased.

Sounds like an epic loser.

Vandalism sucks.

I should have been clearer.... I was getting my front tire put on the wheel at a local rice dealer. (40 buks each, scratched the ef up and, no balance weights on the front?....)

(I skuffed up and rattle can'd the rims black)

So I'll just change from Hog to Squid. SSDD.

40 is steep ('specially when they mess up tehe work); check out M'cycle Superstore's approved installer list - I found a shop thru them in MD that is $25 per wheel.

Mike, truly sorry about your car, and it sounds like you either need to find a new dealer to install tires, or do it yourself - it isn't that hard, and you can do an excellent job of balancing with a simple static balancer.

I was poking a little fun at Fahren - he automatically placed the blame in this deal on a Harley enthusiast. But he's right: All Harley riders suck. : )

Take care,

thanks FB, I was thinking of doing exactly that for my next set. My first set was done at a Harley Dealer, but they did all the work and ordered the tires for me,..500+ total.

I got these tires thru Mtorcycle superstore and the dealer I went to was listed and local. I have the Scorpion Trails with a 190 on the rear now... hopefully they will last 10k.

Ride the bike to the shop, lay it over and remove the wheels. : D

I did this a few months ago when I had a surprise flat 500 miles from home. The dealer couldn't let me work in their shop due to insurance reasons, and there's no way I was gonna pay the extra $$ for them to remove and reinstall the wheel. The look on their faces when I walked outside and pushed the bike over in the grass was priceless.

yea.. no way I am paying for them to remove wheels.. I think 40 per wheel/tire isn't bad if I bring them in. I almost attempted to spoon the front myself but I don't have the spoons/balancer or weights. So it was quicker to take the wheels in. But next time (in 10k miles) ..,.if isn't too hard.. I may attempt to R&R both myself.

There are asshats everywhere. I've found more respect at the Harley dealer for the property of others than I have at the local rice rocket store.

Could be that extra 30 years of experience.

I came walking out of Costco a few years back, and found a guy and his girlfriend BOTH sitting on my XB12R, leaning all their weight on the kickstand.

I yelled at him... "GTF OFF MY BIKE RIGHT NOW!!"

He turned and laughed and said something about me needing to calm down.

I told him it would be a good idea not to ever do something like that again unless he wanted to get beat up in front of his girlfriend.

He started to comment... I threw my berry smoothie on his shoes and dropped my box of just-purchased lunch meats on the ground, squared off and balled up my fists. He backed away and said he was going to call the cops. I told him to go ahead and do it.

He stammered some crap under his breath, took his dimwitted clam and left.

What a punk.

Jerry, I feel your pain. Rode Harleys since 1970 and always enjoyed the ride, although the AMF years were rough, the bikes did their jobs. The evos changed the game and the HD personnel became rock stars to the newbies.
I stayed with HD till 2010 and liked the bikes for what they were but as a Buell owner I drew the line at the closure.
I now ride Ducati but still respect the HD product.

Baybueller, I've got an '06 Road King that'll occasionally do the same. It's my fifth Harley; my dream bike, really. I've ridden since 1965 and love all motorcycles, and most of the people who ride them.

I don't like what Mr. Wandell did to Buell, but it doesn't diminish my admiration for the long, storied history of the MoCo, nor the people who manufacture, sell and service their machines.

I poked a little fun earlier; I do not think all Harley riders suck. Most I've met are simply folks who love being in the wind, just like most Buell riders, and respect anyone who rides, regardless of their ride. There is the occasional exception, however; see above.

Thanks for your post. : )

Jerry, I caught the fun as I have been here for years and Know your work.
I will always love harleys for what they are and may own another some day. Right now I am riding twice the HP and half the weight.

When my license is in question I will return to the fold.

I ride with some old time Harley riders and they are great people and respect the Buell that I ride. However some of the "New Wave Harley Riders" can be real jerks they have no idea what riding is all about and have no respect for other brands that people ride. I avoid them like the plague.

I will always love harleys for what they are and may own another some day. Right now I am riding twice the HP and half the weight.

Robert, there was a time in my early riding career you couldn't get me near a Harley with a ten-foot pole. This was during the AMF era, although, in retrospect, Harley's quality (or lack thereof) at the time wasn't AMF's fault - Harley hadn't kept up with the times and had let themselves get fat and lazy (much like all of America has, in my opinion...}

Bobbing around in southeast Alaska in 1979, hunting for elusive salmon herds, gave me the occasional opportunity to snag one of the Skipper's Easyrider mags and ogle the chicks - er, I mean bikes - and I started to kind of "get" what Harleys are all about.

I bought my first H-D - a stunning '76 Liberty Edition Electra-Glide - in 1980, and haven't looked back since. My '06 Road King, save for the color, looks all the world just like my old Shovel, but is vastly superior in every respect.

I've ridden bikes that weigh much less and have much more horsepower, but have found, at least for me, that weight and horsepower don't always convert equally to the joy of riding. Maybe it's old age sneakin' up on me. Maybe it's just simply enjoying the view in the limited time I have left. Most likely, it's almost a half-century of riding under my belt coloring the sky in my riding world.

I dig ALL motorcycles. I've found, however, that I struggle with some of the people who ride them, particularly the ones who are so close-minded that the ONLY motorcycle worthy of their respect is the one they ride.

Even worse, IMO, are the folks who summarily dismiss a fellow rider simply based on the motor under their butt. Seems to me this particular 'tude is where Fahren is coming from above. Maybe I'm wrong, and, if so, I'll buy him a frosty beverage of his choice if we ever get a chance to meet.

There are some awesome moto-friendly watering holes scattered throughout the southern Appalachians, and on a summer weekend you'll find any one of these places stuffed chock-a-block fulla motorcycles, all shapes, sorts and sizes, from every country you can imagine. I've NEVER seen a bad attitude from a Harley rider directed towards a non-Harley rider at one of these places. Rather, what I see is mutual respect. It's a cool thing.

Thanks for the chance to visit. : )

Wow - I sure didn't mean my (attempt at) funny little post to turn this thread into a referendum on Harleys and their riders! Oops!

Just poking a little fun at those who purchase an attitude and lifestyle for $10,000 - $30,000 and up, and get a free motorcycle thrown into the deal.

Sorry if it came across otherwise. Hope that irons out any wadded panties. :-D

Smoothies all around!

Very nice Jerry, I completely agree!
My next door neighbor is a "hardcore" Harley Guy. He is about in his fifty's and rides with all the most "bad a--" gear harley sells. From looks you wouldn't want to even say hi to him. However every time I pull the Buell out he always comes over and has nothing but positive comments. As do I when I go over there to see his bikes and car (sweet 70 442)
I have seen him at Dunkin Donuts talking to squids.
He just likes to ride so do I.

As others have said a jerk is a jerk, whether he is riding a moped or a decked out Fat Boy. Nothing will change that.
Sorry about your car .....that is a Jerk.....
