Harley-Davidson, all Buell influence aside. has some HUGE problems right now. They, as a result of huge downsizing, have lost tons of talent. A great deal of it was fired including some former top execs. . . others, seeing what was happening, simply "retired" way before they intended to. The greatest chasm is among those who remain. I have the pleasure of a number of great friendships with folks who have risen in the ranks at HD. They, although it would never show, are for the most part paralyzed. The constant talk of "another 250 management cuts" . . "moving the entire company away from Wisconsin" and so forth nearly insure that they go home to wife's and kids each night who are, and justifiably so, concerned about next paycheck, the mortgage and if the kids will be in the same school. I feel sorry for a couple of them. They are making fairly nice 6-figure salaries and are slaves to an organization that doesn't have a clear direction. The "good news" is that the ones who leave are quickly snagged by other, more visionary, organizations. |

There are some awesome moto-friendly watering holes scattered throughout the southern Appalachians, and on a summer weekend you'll find any one of these places stuffed chock-a-block fulla motorcycles, all shapes, sorts and sizes, from every country you can imagine. I've NEVER seen a bad attitude from a Harley rider directed towards a non-Harley rider at one of these places. Rather, what I see is mutual respect. It's a cool thing. The secret's out |

I wonder if the "enviromentalist" who scratched those cars gave any thought to all those cfc's hydrocarbons and toxins released into the atmosphere in the re-painting of all those damaged hummers! |

I dig ALL motorcycles. I've found, however, that I struggle with some of the people who ride them, particularly the ones who are so close-minded that the ONLY motorcycle worthy of their respect is the one they ride. Even worse, IMO, are the folks who summarily dismiss a fellow rider simply based on the motor under their butt. Well said, sir! rt |

The stories of things like this are endless, it's really just a lack of respect of anything that isn't yours. I've seen moms holding young kids on a stranger's bike with ice cream dripping all over the place, people at ski resorts setting their gear on top of another vehicle, even european tourists holding the helmet and posing with the bike. Thankfully, any that have happened to me were without conflict and caused no harm, but it's annoying. I came walking out of Costco a few years back, and found a guy and his girlfriend BOTH sitting on my XB12R, leaning all their weight on the kickstand. Hindsight is 20/20, but it would have been funny to have called the cops and say it looks like someone is trying to steal your bike and you don't want to get involved, and just wait for the sh!t to go down right in front of your eyes. "Officer, why else would these people be sitting on a bike that isn't theirs unless they intended to ride it away?" |

Funny or not, johnny law doesn't get called. |

>>>whiper - so for no reason you think you should call the police? Are you trying to ask: Under no circumstances would I call the police? Or, Would I not call the police, no matter the reason? The answer is yes, I would call the police under certain circumstances. A guy and his girl friend leaning on my bike doesn't qualify. Should I get an ass whopping for telling him to get off, I get an ass whopping and move on. More than likely I would atempt to resolve the issue peacefully first. Telling the individual(s) politely, yet firmly to get off the motorcycle. Calling the cops for that reason is like calling 911 because you scrapped your knee. Sure it would be funny to watch, but who's going to pay for the cost of the response call. Think the cop(s) responding to the scene is going to be laughing. At the bike owner for being a punk maybe. |

Should have made ("friends") with them. Hung out for a few months. Steal his girlfriend. Have your way with her for a week. Then dump her. Send him the video. |

Reminds me of the line in a song that went,"I've been seeing another man's woman...., and she ain't been doin' him half as bad as she's been doin' me". |

Hell, I know several men who might still be married if they treated their wives half as well as they treat their girlfriends. |
