It is the official demarcation of me being "OLD". As my parents yelled to me to turn down AC/DC, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Dokken, Scorpions, even the 'dancy' Springsteen - I know that this is now my stand of 'turn that down or off'
Yep, I am officially OLD. I don't get it, I am not the target market for it. These kids these days.... hey get off my lawn !
I don't know why a bunch of old farts on BadWeB are fussing about and scoring a teeny music video. I have certainly seen worse things for kids to watch. Kinda like venting on how you feel about Sponge Bob. My grand kids love the odd little bastard, to me it is unwatchable.
But, when I was a kid, my parents did not listen to the Beetles, or watch Batman on TV.
To each generation his own. See ya around the camp fire.
yea... my gf says there is nothing wrong with that video/song... it is the fact that... it is like... a 6 year old wrote the lyrics... and and 8 year old sang it. really listen to the way she says friday... "Frieeday". very poor. She did say it sounds like a song made for Disney radio.
Plus the way it was done, I believe they are called song sharks? They advertise to make you a star and make a video of you for $$$$ and they do... no matter what. I am sure there are many other girls and guys that never get viral like this.... lol
from Wikipedia:
Thirteen-year-old Black, from Anaheim Hills, California, grew up as a fan of singers popular among tweens, such as Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. An honor student, she has studied dance, auditioned for school shows, and attended music summer camps. She began singing publicly in 2008 after joining the patriotic group Celebration USA.
In late 2010, a classmate of Black and music-video client of Ark Music Factory, a Los Angeles vanity record label, told her about the company. Black's mother, Georgina Kelly, paid Ark Music $4,000 for a song and accompanying video that included a choice of two pre-written songs; according to Kelly, the payment covered one half or less of the production costs of the music video, and Black's family could have paid nothing in exchange for giving up all rights to the song. Black chose "Friday", as "the other song was about adult love – I haven't experienced that yet. 'Friday' is about hanging out with friends, having fun. I felt like it was my personality in that song." She subsequently stated that the other song was more specifically about being a boy's superhero. Ark Music handled the song's recording and production, extensively using the pitch-correcting software Auto-Tune. Although Kelly had some doubts over the quality of the lyrics, Black assured her that "I sang it as they wrote it, Mom. "Friday" co-writer Patrice Wilson explained that "I wrote the lyrics on a Thursday night going into a Friday. I was writing different songs all night and was like, 'Wow, I've been up a long time and it's Friday.' And I was like, wow, it is Friday!"
Allright- FWIW, I watched Jimmy Fallon last night, he had Stephen Colbert on to sing that song as a result of "losing" a bet they had to raise money for a kids charity...
The Roots accompanied, along with a crew of college cheerleaders dancing- it really was a cool production! Quite a hoot.
we are a society that values celebrity, 'talent', money, vanity, popularity, and the trivial - and in some cases the extreme lack of them just as well - to the point that I just want to bury my head in the sand somewhere. Just make it all go away.
