Cowboy, are you saying Gaddafi and the reporters are both our enemy? ( I'm not disagreeing, mind you, just astonished you'd say it. ) I never believed the Russian people wanted to kill me. The leaders had a buncha nukes aimed at my house when I was younger and I had no doubt they wanted to kill me. I figured the guys in the Kremlin didn't know I existed except as a statistic, don't think I'm paranoid. I lived next door to Offut. SAC hq. Likewise...I don't think the Libyan "people" suck. Other than the current major cultural conflict where "radical islam" seeks to enslave the world. That's not the peasants getting shelled fault. Some interesting definitions. http://www.lts.com/~cprael/Meade_FAQ.htm |

Not helped by Obama's change in US policy toward Israel. Quite a bit is Syria's ruling clan leader trying to distract world press about his slaughtering his own people. Odd. I expect exteeeme hypocrisy from leftists. I Expect Dems to accuse Reps of stuff the Dems do to distract the public. I am amused that a Dem can start a war and get little flack from the press and leftist types. It's not the old days when the lefties protested LBJ ( nearly as much as Nixon... if less organized by the KGB ) for Vietnam. But where's Code Pink? Where's the fringe antiwar guys who even protested Clinton during Monica's War? Is the Koolaid Sooooo good that NO one cares if we bomb people and things escalate into multi nation war? Does no one have a good idea on how to keep the entire mid-east from becoming a nuclear and oil armed religious dictatorship which has already promised to kill you, the infidels? http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/watch-nra- heads-explode-al-qaeda-spo Lies. Falsehoods. Communist propaganda. To the ignorant. Assault rifles require both a federal permit, with a full and thorough FBI investigation. They also require a tax for each transfer, and Federal registration of each guns transfer. No one buys them at gun shows without a background check. ( and the terrorists that guns were sold to are probably the ones sold by direct instructions of the BATFE in their program to ..... well, honestly, to justify politicians lies. ) I note with no sarcasm that both the rulers of dictatorships and idiots who wear Che t-shirts will agree with the falsehoods in this article. ( why are you an idiot? because Che was a mass murderer, a racist who hated black people, and when he got into a position of power... murdered even more people. His opinion of upper middle class yuppie scum...the ones who wear t-shirts with Che on them....was that they were useful tools to gain power, and then rob and murder when power is achieved. As he did. Idiots. ) Funniest...and scariest... part of that article is that the call to slaughter them isn't even an issue with the dipSh!*s who wrote it. |

And.... War#4. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/09/world/middleeast /09intel.html?_r=1&hp ( with the exception of the "Arab Spring" war in Libya, this really is just another front in a planetary conflict that will not end for some time. Unless, perhaps, this admin gets a complete change of heart and admits who and what we are at war with. Not holding breath. ) |

Do we even know what side we are on in war#4? I keep waiting for BO to explain how 2 wars caused the economic problems again. Seems to be a typical BO strategy to double down on the Bush strategies that BO criticizes. |

http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/269080/coor dinates-radicalism-andrew-c-mccarthy I Don't completely agree with all of the above. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/269176/rein -president-s-war-powers-jeffrey-h-anderson Note well I am not in a dither about Obama starting TWO new wars. ( though one may have been in secret being for some time ) He didn't ask me ( nor did Bush ) but that's his job. Sorta. Unlike the &*&%$ that complain years later that we should not have gone to war with Iraq, or Korea, or Nazi Germany, ( yeah, they exist ) I recognize reality enough to see that war is in being. It's happening. Now. Wishing that Obama had not started a war with Libya is like wishing to win the lotto. Good luck with that. ( why don't you grow up? ) Reminds me, gotta buy a ticket. I do feel free to complain about HOW the Prez makes war. I was very unhappy with Bush about Iraq. A little better pleased with "the surge", since it at least implied we were going to TRY to win something, but still angry that thousands of reinforcements were needed. It meant we didn't do it right. Pisses me off no end to waste money and human lives on stupid tactics & strategy. Especially American and Allied lives. Most of the Allied troops and ALL of the US troops are volunteers who only wanted to defend their societies. Sending them to be hurt & killed uselessly is evil. So. I'm a bit upset with Libya. It seems to my simplistic mind that we could have fairly easily eliminated a long sitting dictator in the first week. That would have saved thousands of lives. Civilian lives shelled and caught in the crossfire by both rebels and loyalists. Rebels and loyalists who would have been simply Libyans if the Supreme Ego was gone and maybe even people working to create a better place for their children. But we didn't do that. I think we still should. I hope it's not too late. True, such a course has dangers. It would be hard to select a new leader, and even harder to find a New George Washington for Libya. It's doubtful that the events following Gaddafi's leaving would spontaneously produce such a saint. Not in that culture. Not in a country ruled by a dictator for decades, with no tradition of self sacrificing public service. But, I think worth a shot. My strategy. Fight to win. Eliminate the dictator. Try not to screw up the natives selecting a non-dictator leader & Government. Be prepared to do it again if they do. Don't let insurgents use lines on a map to murder innocents. Be prepared to, and DO if needed, eliminate the dictator in the country(s) that support insurgents. It seems to me that killing a few dozen dictators is better than killing thousands of troops. Anyone's troops. Opinion? |

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/21/barack -obama-and-pentagon-split-on-afghanistan I have no comment at this time that won't get me banned. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obamas-nega tion-of-hostilities-in-libya-draws-criticism/2011/ 06/20/AGV2zTdH_print.html Honesty is not even a policy with these guys. Bear in mind that this admin. has claimed that taxes were NOT taxes while pushing the health care takeover, then claimed in court that because they were taxes the law was legal. Are we bombing people? Then it's "hostilities" and the Prez must consult with Congress. I didn't write the law.... but the idea of checks and balances is to prevent dictatorial actions. On anyones part. Bit of a clash of wills coming on this subject. |

I pretty much stayed away from the news while traveling south on the bike. Are we still involved in 4 wars, or is it only 3 wars again? Or is it 3 wars and a secret war? Or is it 2 wars, 1 not war and a secret war? I haven't heard what happened to the 4th war since I've been back. |

Victory is not a word Barry likes. Too colonial. Buellinmke, I have some questions on your statement, but please get back to me on that on the "PSA for Teabaggers" thread. Have any good ideas on the wars in question? Both the 2 Bush started, the 2 Obama started, and the 1 that actually the other 4 are really just fronts of. Global Jihad. Really looking for good ideas, not personality bashing. Barack doesn't like "victory". I understand that, since it is not his world view. It is, however, in mine. I will accept a solution using that word. So far amplified womens lib looks like the best course. ( the Sgt. Trixie solution ) |

I guess it depends on how you count them, but if you count us bombing a country against it's will, then I think the WaPo might have the count right at six. Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Yemen, and now Somali. If you don't count the ones that are using non-aggressive bombing or however it was described, then I guess you could wind up with a different number. How many countries do we have to be bombing before it's considered a world war? http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/national-se curity/us-drones-target-two-leaders-of-somali-grou p-allied-with-al-qaeda/2011/06/29/AGJFxZrH_story.h tml?hpid=z1 |

With the exception of Libya, which seems to be either... 1. a badly done attempt to reduce civilian deaths in a civil war...or 2. a cowardly election campaign bid to seem a strong advocate of US defense. I guess to try and boost polls that failed to rise high enough when Obama let the military kill Osama. ( and stupid, IMHO as Obama, little as I like his ideology, was at least following Bush's lead in killing Taliban. His policies on telling the taliban we were leaving are insane, but few thought him a coward on war. Moron, but not coward. ) or 3. A ploy to make the Rep's seem bad by having them oppose an illegal war... or even better, cut funding to an existing conflict, making the Dem's treasonous actions in that direction all righteous and crap. I just can't figure out the heart of these neo-marxist authoritarian fools. ....Pakistan, iraq, etc. etc. are all the SAME war. The war against western civilization by jihadists. Still think we're not doing it right. |

I'm not all exercised about the war powers act business. In this thread. Objective reality is we are at war. Not calling war, war, is an unfortunate fact of life. Like "undocumented citizens" and "Police Action", "Kinetic unhostilities" is pretty obviously DoubleSpeak. ( Orwell, 1984 ) Politicians will have their little lies, and this one is a bit old. Oh, well. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/03/us-libya -france-son-idUSTRE7622BL20110703 In a telephone address relayed to tens of thousands of supporters in Tripoli's Green Square on Friday, Gaddafi urged NATO to halt its bombing campaign or risk seeing Libyan fighters descend on Europe "like a swarm of locusts or bees." I think we have a spray for that. A telephone address? That makes speeches a lot safer. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2011/07/0 3/uk-terrorists-told-pretend-to-be-gay-so-you-don- t-get-caught-115875-23242635/ The giggle here is that the Soviets often used the "honeytrap" in Russia to blackmail tourists and diplomats. The KGB trained and paid both female and male prostitutes for the honeytrap. Even better from a spy point of view was to catch a diplo in a homosexual affair. Used to be the best blackmail was to threaten to let the press and family know..worked well in the '20's through '80's. (Now they can get married in New York's latest revenue craze, pretending to be a gay bed and breakfast to attract the gay marriage tourism.) It's typical.
