http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/bmw-m3-pickup-201 1-04-01 I know the Subaru Baja is similar, but I don't think it's long enough for a bike. Pontiac had a G8 truck that never made it to production. Are the old El Caminos capable of hauling a Buell.... safely? |

Holden makes the Ute which is what the Pontiac would have been based on. The GTO and G8 were also Holden models. |

I've owned two ElCaminos, yes they can haul a buell safely. |

I wish they would have made the g8 truck...I thought that thing was cool. Then again I have always been a fan of the el camino. |

I've been killing for a high performance rwd pickupcar for years. I lost count how many times I wrote to GM asking for the G8 Ute to become a reality here (long before it even existed in AU). It was only a few months away from becoming produced too when the carpocalypse happened. |

Froggy- why wouldn't you go with a 4wd or AWD especially in the north with your winter conditions? |

I have absolutely no use for it. If it snows I am on the Blast. 4WD is for the idiots that can't drive and end up in a ditch, and AWD makes it harder to kick out the ass end mid turn. I can handle a blizzard with 1wd. Seriously, it only snows 5 or 6 times a year, why take the hit in fuel economy and tire life for the other 358 days? |

I know the Subaru Baja is similar, but I don't think it's long enough for a bike. It is for a Buell, as long as you park it in the bed sideways with the tailgate down. I've seen it done. |

I'm curious as to how many folks would be candidates for buying a $75,000 truck? I have to agree on the 4WD . . as tempting as it is to buy . . it adds about $3500 - $4000 to a vehicle. Even with this years megastorm . . 29" here in a single day. . . I missed driving only one day. The 4WD I've had in the past added costs in terms of fuel mileage (a big one) and maintenance . . just not worth it for something I'm going to use perhaps 5 days during the life of the vehicle. I'm leaning toward keeping my old 2006 F-150 and adding a fun, great mileage, car as a daily driver. The pickup, now 5 years old and having had excellent care . . is worth nearly nothing as a trade. I figure it's cheaper to keep it, use it when I need a truck and . .the heck of it . the savings from not driving it every day . . will pay for the daily driver. P.S. - Neighbor just got his wife a gorgeous Bently and bought himself a Cayenne Turbo . . be a cold day in hell before I spent $130,000 for a truck! |

I wanted that G8 pickup. An ElCamino or Ranchero will easily haul a bike. ( though the lack of good tie downs are a challenge ) Buells have short wheel bases and are even easier to haul, I bet. Froggy, We have snow here in the Imperial Upstate about 6 months a year. ( seems like more ) I drive a Ford Van with 2 wheel drive. No problems. ( with very aggressive studded snow tires. All seasons? HA! ) |

I had an El Camino SS for 15 years, hauled my XR1000 and then my Buell a few times in it. I was a buyer for the Pontiac sport truck(Holden Ute) until it got killed. I'd still be a buyer today for one, although my current Silverado SS is a great truck. Gas destroyer, too! |

Court, find a used VW V10 Diesel version of the Cayenne. Doesn't get as good mileage as you want, though. Does well at Pikes Peak! http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2008/06/2008-volk swagen-touareg-v10-tdi-review/ Or get a current TDI Jetta. The Sportwagen is pretty sporty in the curves, total stealth on the expressway, ( soccer mom invisible ) and 40 mpg at 70 mph. Downside is diesel costs more than premium, and repairs are pricey. Or just try a GTI. Nearly as much fun as a Ferrari, and you can buy one for every day of the week for the cost of an Austin. Slower, and less tickets too, since you get less LEO attention. There are a few other toy mileage mongers I like, such as the new Ford Fiesta, Fusion Hybrid, etc. (Message edited by aesquire on April 03, 2011) |

That would be my only issue with a M3 Ute. Part of the reason I loved Pontiac was because of how GM was turning the brand into a poor mans BMW. |

>>>That would be my only issue with a M3 Ute M3 Ute X5 X6 Range Rover Cayenne S Audi Q7 All well over $60,000 I tossed about replacing the truck with an SUV . . . but I think we're heading for $6.00 gas and I'm paying over $90 2 or 3 times a week. It's weary. I had almost popped for one and I think my "cheap" kicked in. My investments are on a damn roll and I confess to having a real hesitation to take ANYTHING out of play in what could be a 20% year just for transportation. I'm going to keep the pickup for the moment but have narrowed my focus from the pricey trucks to something that gets 40MPG or better, is FUN and cheap. There look to be some candidates. |

I know that an El Camino can carry 3 dirt bikes and a lot of gear... sort of follows suit that it could also carry a Buell or even two. |

Ok, I'll be the first. That looks like ass. I think the target market would be slightly less than those willing buyers of the ASSTEK |

There is a chance that the Ute may be coming to the US as a Chevy. http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f70/zeta-update -three-holden-products-north-america-101692/ |

GMI is my home away from Badweb, so I know the info they got is good and is indeed real. Anything can happen in the next two years, remember the G8 Ute was only 3 months away from rolling out of the factory when the brand was killed. |

I think it belongs as a chevy and not a pontiac any way so it can take the el camino name. I don't have anything against pontiac in fact I wish they were still around because I would have liked to have seen a firebird version of the new camero but I just think a car/truck should be a chevy el camino. |
