I haven't been to the Quick Board much lately - sorry I'm a late comer. Fortunately Frank posted in Old School. Count me in on the donation and $80 for the poster. |

Lynn, Sorry to be so late to get in here - I would never know there is anything going on ANYwhere on the Board even though Jerry sits about a foot from me all day, every day. But, have to tell you, when he was rearranging the kitchen yesterday to be able to ever so carefully lay out that poster to get some good shots I finally had to see what was going on. He was so totally amped to find that poster - and it truly is gorgeous despite a few wrinkles that will disappear with the proper care - and be able to offer it up for you. Good on you for taking the time and effort, you and everyone else here, for such a worthy cause. Will see what else we can do to help... D PS: Frank, sorry but the bottles will have to stay - not included in the deal, and as you can see we are a bit low on Jose anyways.... |

>>>Court, am I to late for your deal also? Nope. I said any purchase of $100 or more from Erik Buell Racing during March. EDIT: I withdrew my bid - I'm not sure it's entirely fair for me to bid. But that is a classic tube frame poster. (Message edited by court on March 28, 2011) |

Court, a question: I've always assumed the signature on the right side of the poster is from the artist, but it sure doesn't look like "MACDONALD" to me: Thoughts?? |

Jerry, Very cool poster. I'm going to keep my hands out of this one as well, but have a few items that I can offer up as well... |

Well . . I may be out bid . . . but I'm good to replace the bottle of Jose'. I look at that . . . think of Ferris and even I tear up. It's one thing for a guy to surrender his prized Buellssesions. . . . quite another to have a bottle of Cuervo at the danger level. I think RT and Bomber had a sticker they put quite near the top of the bottle that reads "any quantity below this line shall be deemed a "de facto empty bottle" and immediate replacement shall be warranted". If RT saw a bottle of Scotch at that level . . . well, I wouldn't want to be around.

...have a few items that I can offer up as well... Good on ya, brother! I'm good to replace the bottle of Jose'... Thx a million, Court - D makes a mean margarita, and, well, to borrow a line from Lou Usher: We're in Cuervo's neighborhood. Lynn, are you nearing your goal?? Take care, FB&D |

Borrowing a line from Ron White, a fellow Texan: When the bottle is at that level you're not "getting low" on Cuervo--you're "out" of Cuervo! I'm going to have to pass on this auction, too. The new house doesn't have any free wall space and the Entropy Lab del Sud is already covered with Buell stuff. rt |

Im gonna run out of posters but am hard at work finding more . . . NO ONE will go away from this empty handed. I'm impressed. |

REMINDER: The auction for the "Buell Rules" S2 Thunderbolt poster to benefit Lynn's fundraising drive ends Sunday night. The current high bid is $200 (thank you Jumbo_Petite!). I've copied and pasted my original poster post below, FYI. Court has pretty much seen everything there is to see related to Buell over the years, but he's never seen one of these limited-edition posters "in the wild." Methinks YOU need this poster for your very own. Good luck, and happy bidding. -------------------------------------- OK folks, following Court's lead, I'm offering up some of my personal Buell swag to help Lynn raise money to battle a deadly scourge: Breast cancer. Consider this a "no reserve" seven-day BadWeatherBikers auction, and up for bids is "Buell Rules": (Note to self: We're low on Cuervo...) I used to have two of these, given to me, as I recall, by a PacBOG sponsor back in '96 or '97. It's an Ice White Pearl '96 S2 Thunderbolt doing what it does best, and the piece is gorgeous. It's #96 (of course!) of 250, and personally signed by Erik Buell and the artist. Are YOU Old School Buell? Then you NEED this piece! Now the bad news: I used to have two of these. The other one got donated away years ago, and was mint. This one, however, has "wrinkles" in it. You can see them in the pix, and it's how I originally received the piece. I used to be in the custom-framing business, and if this poster is "vacuum-bonded" to some high-quality backer board (archival quality, natch), most of these wrinkles should go away. Once matted and framed (PLEASE have the framer use archival techniques) and covered with museum-quality glass, most of the wrinkles should have disappeared. This poster represents a faBuellous moment in time, warm, rich, adventurous, colorful and inviting. The spirit of Buell. Overall dimensions are 16 inches x 26 inches (40.6 cm x 66 cm), and the artwork itself measures 9 inches x 20.25 inches (22.9 cm x 51.4 cm). If you want to play, this is the place. Bidding ends next Sunday night, 4/3/2011, at 11:00 p.m. Pacific time (Monday, 4/4/2011 06:00 GMT). I'll cover the shipping and handling, and the successful bidder will receive the poster in a sturdy mailing tube. Dig deep, people - this is for a very good cause. FB&D |

Here are five more "no reserve" BadWeB-only auctions to help raise money for Lynn Marie Twohig's upcoming two-day, 40-mile "Avon Walk for Breast Cancer." At the end of the auction the successful bidder will send their winning bid amount directly to Lynn, at which time I'll send your item/s via USPS First Class Mail. I'll cover the cost of shipping and handling. Good luck, and happy bidding. ------------------------------------ #1: November 1987 Cycle World: "The Bike That Buell Built" - Buell RR 1000 Battletwin This is an excellent four-page article on RR 1000 serial No. 001, written by David Edwards with photography by Tom Riles. The mag is in overall excellent condition with the exception of some wear marks on the cover from improper storage for several decades - these "scuffs" in the ink are visible in the first photo. The magazine is now stored in a protective plastic sleeve with a stiff cardboard backer, and will be shipped to you with tender, loving care. This is a superb in-depth article on Erik's first street-legal masterpiece, and belongs in your collection. Bidding ends next Sunday night, 4/10/2011, at 11:00 p.m. Pacific Eastern time. Please bid on this thread, referencing the item number and/or description. Thank you for supporting the ta-tas!! FB&D (Message edited by jerry_haughton on April 04, 2011) |
