"bought himself a Cayenne Turbo . . be a cold day in hell before I spent $130,000 for a truck!" Especially one that will only see off road use if the owner accidentally backs over his flower beds. |

I love the idea behind the Ute. It would be high on my list when I replace my Rav4 in 2 years (or less). What about something along the lines of the Ford Sports Trak only using a passenger chassis instead? Think a 4 passenger El Camino. More passenger room and a small cargo box in the rear. It would be perfect for small cargo hauling like moving a washing machine or bring home stuff from Home Depot. It would be great for light duty towing like say a small U-Haul or a trailer with a couple of motorcycles. I'd buy that vehicle in a heart beat. (Message edited by Zane on April 04, 2011) |

If only the subaru was more of a pickup, I would be looking at it more. Combine my Fit and my toy-ota 4X4! Still waiting to see if those indian diesel pickups are ever going to be released. The specs say they are 30MPG!
I want to at least take one for a test drive. |

"Ive recently become addicted to that show, Top Gear. They are all on netflix and I strongly suggest anyone who hasnt seen that show, not the American version, make efforts to check it out." +1! I LOVE that show! It is also on BBC America on cable channels... |

Timo, Yeah, that's exactly what I had in mind. Think Holdens are going to be available in the US in my life time? |

I'd have a Ridgeline if it were up to me. Been eye balling them for a couple years now. BUT, I just had a '92 Toyota extended cab, 4WD given to me with 84K original miles with immaculate interior so I've got my truck fix taken care of. |

Any idea what a mid 80's El Camino is going for these days? It's just wishful thinking but this thread has me curious. |

I have been thinking of getting one too. I really want a late 60's early 70's but for the price and what I need it to do the 80's ones would probably be more practical. |

Dos, I'd love to snarf up your '83 up but I'm out of work, just about broke and don't have my garage any more. Do have a couple of job nibbles so gimme 6 months and life will be a much more normal situation. We might be talking then. |

The El Camino was on the same chassis as a ragtop Chevelle. The powertrains were identical. The 350 4 barrel motor mated with the optional Turbo 400 and 12 bolt axle was virtually bulletproof....the only major problem was the lenght of the doors wore the hinge hardware out rapidly. I would like to see a modern version of the Subaru Brat....with more rust resistant bodywork of course... |

Subaru stopped making the Baja in 07 I believe. Seats 4 with a little bed in the back and a turbo was available toward the later years. They seem to be holding their price quite well in my area.... darn it. |

Subaru would have a great ute if the bean counters didn't stop the fold down back seat $. The last pre production version would allow for a 4x8 sheet of plywood to be carried with the tail gate up. I believe it also included the load leveling shocks, bigger rear end and drive line upgrades to tow 4k (1.5K increase over current), 6 speed with 3 LSD. Basicaly, the bean counters KILLED all of the reasons why I would pay the additional $ for the ute. |

I like the looks of that Holden. I wonder how it handles in the snow? |
