Well it was a good riding day today, took out the TT to ride some of the col's, & in between times drop in to the HD dealers near Lausanne who, I saw on a local Buell forum, were having an open weekend. Met a couple of Swiss Bueller's, one with a 12S & one with an XT, apart from them, lot's of "Look at me!" types & acres of chrome & loud pipes. They had 4 Buells for sale, A used black Uly, 2 unregistered 1125R's, & a black '01 X1 with very low mileage & shiny PMs, but other than that bog stock. The 1125s were either side of the X1 & carrying price tags of 12,900 CHF, that's near enough 14000 dollars. I was stunned, but then I looked at the Tuber & nearly choked, got a few looks when I started laughing & got the phone out to take a shot of the ticket. Here it is. Now I know the ole greenback isn't exactly the strongest currency in the world these days, but WTF? a 10 yr old used tuber for $14,650? & that's with a rebate!!! I asked if they'd had much interest & was told no but the season's early yet. I told the Harley guy that if he could sell it at that price to let me know & I'd supply him with as many as he wants & we'll split the difference. He gave me that look that Harley salesmen keep specially for Buell riders. I returned to my filthy unwashed TT & left, to return home the pretty way via St Cergue & Col de la Faucille. A good day. |

No that's Swiss Francs, (CHF) which is worth about a dollar & eight cents at the moment. Not Euro. Switzerland, isn't part of the EC. Means I have to clear customs in the rig every trip. |
