The splines look a little funny on the flywheel/crank and I can't find a clear enough picture searching to see. They seem to be stepped and the sprocket has lots of wiggle room when the nut is loose, when tight, all seems well.
Also, my T-20 decided to strip out two of the replacement stator screws. I degreased two of the old ones and used them with a dab of LocTite. Am I safe? |

Is that on a Blast? The step on the spline is an indication that the sprocket ran loose at one time. Clean everything up, spray the threads and nut down with brakekleen, put a bunch of red loctite on the threads and nut and torque it to the XB spec, you should be good to go. When you torque it make sure you use the locking tool, using anything else and you won't be able to get it back to the proper torque. |

It's an 05 XB12. It ran loose causing the rotor to contact the stator, ruining it. The steps are really consistent, they look machined. It's been hosed down with brake cleaner and I had a new nut from American Sport Bike that I cranked down to 250ft/lbs with a home made locking tool and it was pretty much soaked in red loctite... I guess my other question about the T20 stator bolts is all that's left... Anyone interested in an XB9 front sprocket? |

Funny how the crank wears and the sprocket doesn't.... I would work at replacing the two screws that are stripped, unless they are already tightened down with locktite on them. |

I did, but I reused the old ones. I cleaned them up in the parts washer and re-loctited them. It's only like 40 in/lbs, so I doubt they really stretch at all. The replacement ones I got seem to be more shallow so the torx bit slipped... |

It's alive! It's putting out 14.2v at idle and it's quiet. It shifts well, no leaks. There was an issue with the license plate light, but it was quickly resolved. I haven't ridden the bike in over a year and forgot how much fun it was! |
