Starting to sounds like my Motorcycle habit...

Exactly! : )

I have a 92 YJ, 4.0 / stick. All stock except I put on a Banks exhaust when the stocker rusted out, and a 2" shackle lift to clear 31x10.50 tires. And I did have the interior Line-X'd, no carpet or funk for me! (and don't forget the requisite 1200 watt stereo : ) )

I - honestly - have a quieter and more weather-protected ride on my Ulysses than I do in the Jeep.

Granted, it's a soft (half) top with half doors. I removed the back seat and put on a tonneau cover, so its almost a pickup. But "hauling"? Forget it. I can go grocery shopping...but that's filling it to the gills. If I had a full top I could carry more, but I don't want to have to heat all that space in the winter.

Its noisy.

It rides rough.

Its drafty.

Fuel mileage sucks.

But...dammit...it *is* a lot of fun and it really will go just about anywhere!

Now, the newer ones (97-up) are much more civilized with the coil spring suspension. ANY hardtop and full doors will be more car-like. But...they really are toys. If I have to go further than an hour from home, I take the bike. The Jeep just has me begging for mercy after an hour on the highway....but come summer, I take off the top and doors, and they don't go back on until September/October. THAT is where it shines most. Fresh air, basically a 4 wheel motorcycle...and NO GEAR : )

Do NOT buy a Wrangler to replace a vehicle in the family. It is a TOY. Add one to the collection, absolutely. They're bulletproof and a ton of fun...but don't expect it to be civilized daily functional transportation.

Joe... ya got me thinking... something to bounce off trees... now that would be FUN..

Do they make a grill with round headlights that would fit in the 96 and earlier models.

I just don't like the square ones... but if he price was right.

This is one way, been thinking of doing it myself.

Or you could put TJ lights on a YJ.

Looks alright if it really is rust-free. The stock YJ dash is gone so it maybe a wiring nightmare if not done right. Doesn't mention if there are any doors or not.

To me it doesn't look like it has a 4" lift with 31's. I think there would be a lot more clearance between the wheelwells than that.

Looking at the pictures it seems it has a body lift and maybe a shackle lift equaling the 4" he's claiming. Don't know how legal those side pipes are on a 93 vehicle.

If it was me, no..... not on Ebay at least. Maybe if I could see it and check out the wiring and whatnot. If done correctly, great deal. If not...

About the v-8 swap. It's a good idea, but I hate buying other people's project cars. It gets really interesting when their overall mechanical ability was lacking.

A wiring harness wouldn't be too hard, if it's a stock affair, I'm sure you could get one from a Jeep resto place like Quadratec. The Dodge dealer that sold me my Ram had a late 70s/early 80s CJ5 for sale. I've got some warranty work to have done Tuesday AM, so I'll keep an eye open for it.

Jeep habits end up far worse than motorcycle habits. Mine was a 96 Cherokee, SYE, custom drive shaft, 4" lift, lockers, hacked up fenders, 33" BFG Mud Terrains, swing-out tire carrier, skid plates, custom bumper, etc.

still on the hunt... Craigs List has a few for $5000 and under.... but I want/need it way under.

there are few in the $2500 range... but It looks like I would have to say "YABBA DABBA DOOOO!!!" every time I took it for a drive, cause my feet would be hanging thru the floor

+1 on Jeep habits being worse than motorcycle habits. I could have bought a new 1125 before fire sale with what I've put into my JK.

Bro in Buells is right, they're usually used to patch rust...

BTW, I've spent three days out of the last nine at the Dodge dealer that had the ol' CJ. It's gone.

My uncle buys alot of CJs and full size trucks down south because they're cheap and solid. Why not try southern WVA, TN, NC, etc. I picked up a CHERRY Ford Fairmont for $1200 a few years ago. Expand your search, you might get lucky.

Wolfie that looks like a good deal.

I'll have some upgrades for that in a couple of weeks too. : )

If anyone's interested, I have an Offenhauser dual plane 4bbl intake, 500cfm Edelbrock carb & full Borla SS exhaust for a, I think, 86-90 6 cylinder for sale soon. (Header to tailpipe w/Flowmaster muffler)

We currently have a 96 Grand Cherokee with a 2.5 TD & 5sp manual.

The rear axle whines like hell, ALL the plastic either squeaks or rattles, the seats are very comfy for about 15 mins then get progressively more hellish. It's also got one of the most annoying pain in the arse anti-theft systems known to man, which you can't disable on euro models.

I bought it thinking it'd be a good tool for the winter & because it has the VM 2.5 Diesel in which is an engine I know & love.

I'll not be buying another, it's a total pain in the arse to work on & the build quality is abysmal.

gonna look at a 1999 Red SE on my way home.
No pic and not much detail in the description other than its red with less than 99,000 miles on the clock

If its not a rust bucket and it has black or grey interior... I will need to ask for forgiveness
