This is a cool thread! Congrats to Ma! The Stearman is one of my favorites, nothing like an open cockpit. In that last pic,the flashy stripe on your coat reminds me of that TV show in the 90's Quantum Leap! The flash is the beginning of your jump to another life/assingment just when your having fun! |

What's with the extended booms/skimmers in that boat pic? I *think* that's just the bow wake?? In that last pic,the flashy stripe on your coat... That's my Buell jacket, kinda my go-to jacket for almost any occasion. That stripe sure bounces back a lot of light from the camera flash, eh? Another fine thread you've gotten us into Ferris! Thx brother. |

I'm late too, again. Ma Bueller it looks like you had a Very Merry Birthday, judging by that million dollar smile! And thank you for your part in making our friend Jerry what he is today. Mostly though, thank you for not pinching his head off when he was little! Rotzaruck! |

One of Mom's custom-made wall hangings, this one of my new bride, for my new bride. Mt. Baker in the distance. Downtown Seattle and the Space Needle just off the wing, the Cascade Mountains in the distance. Another look at Dr. Doug's Bonanza, pretty much mint (the plane, not Doug...) despite being 54 years old. |

Mostly though, thank you for not pinching his head off when he was little! Ed, she DID pinch it off, actually, but it grew back even bigger than before! |

This thread is as addictive as life! A million thank yous to each of you for your warm Birthday wishes!!! My circle of friends is growing by leaps and bounds! When I was a teenager (way back in the last century!) we pretty much created our own entertainment--this was before TV, computers, smart phones etc--. I didn't have any sisters but I did have two brothers and their friends had bikes and of course, some of their friends were 'my friends'. That's where my love of motorcycles started, because of the guys! But this thread isn't long enough for all those stories! Ltbuell, can we meet for coffee? |

"... But this thread isn't long enough for all those stories!" As Robert Earl Keen says, "The road goes on forever, and the party never ends!" Do tell! |

Yeah, Mom, do tell. Family outing to the Pike Place Market in Seattle, one of Ma B's favorite places in the world, back in January. L to r: FB, Ma B, sis-in-law Sandy, D, and Bro Doug. BTW, Rachel the Pig lives... (Message edited by jerry_haughton on March 27, 2011) |

I graduated from High School in a small town named Concrete, WA. One of my boyfriends had a brand new 1942 Baby Blue Buick convertible and another bf had a Harley. Enter rivalry into the picture and the inevitable race happened! These were country roads folks and traffic was light. There's a section of road west of Concrete that has a several mile straight-a-way and we posted people at each end to stop what little traffic there was and the Buick and the Harley entered the race of the decade! I got to drive the Buick! I can still feel the adrenaline! The race ended a tie at 125+ mph! We had to back off because of curves and traffic. FB, should I have posted this as 'anonymous'? |

Woot!!!!! Rachel is back!!!!! Long live Rachel! Your brother must be a dentist with all those great smiles! Hard to believe that Piper is over 50. Family and I were out to Seattle last Fall and went to the Space Needle. Did you know that the counterweight of the Space Needle resides 5 feet above ground, the rest below the surface? Amazing really. We toured the Boeing plant in Everett too. Very controlled/co-ordinated production. And I was impressed by the engineering staff right there with the production staff. Sweet! Just the way it should be. By the way Ma, I've got ties to the PNW. And my mother, who is 81, tells about the times she rode with the "motorcycle club". Up into Canada too back in the day. I kid her that "you can level with me Mom, it was a biker gang, wasn't it?" Mom got one of the guys to kick her bike over. It was an Indian and she was just 17 at the time. I'm sure she has alot of stories that I haven't heard about---yet! This thread is a wonderful example of family and what is important in the grand scheme of things that occur around us. |

FB, should I have posted this as 'anonymous'? Nope, we're all family here, and it's always great to learn more about why I am who I am. In other words, it's all YOUR fault! |
