yep HD has been after the younger generation, have been for a while Rider's edge was a marketing stategy to bring in then "generation X" and the lady rider. They're doing a good job with the ladies but Baby boomers are still their main market.
I think what's wrong with the video is that it had the same feel as seeing a bunch of rappers riding around and bragging about their blinged out Hover Round or Rascal.
Im really surprised by that video, that a dealer allowed them to film inside of the dealership. Cursing, talking about smoking pot etc isnt really a good thing for any dealer to do
I like full figured girls, but those paddock women are hot! Woosa!
Who's HD fooling - all the modern bike gangs ride sport bikes - ain't no banger cruising on a hog, unless gang affiliated old style - aka - Hells Angels, Outlaws, etc. - but the last radical bike gang stuff I saw on the news was all sport-bikes. EZ
One thing none of these people get about going after the younger market, they don't have 30k for a bike. at least most don't. If they really wanted to do something like that they need to get a real rapper..
didnt the Mongols recruit a whole bunch of MS-13; that DIDNT ride, but were patched in to up their membership numbers and expand their ring of 'influence'? Apparently, even some of the 1%s arent about bikes anymore
Dear Whiperstealth and 2008XB "If it sells bikes, good for them I guess. Don't think it will, but who knows.
Just depressing to see an american company circling the drain." "One thing none of these people get about going after the younger market, they don't have 30k for a bike. at least most don't. If they really wanted to do something like that they need to get a real rapper.. "
I may have read your post wrong, but it seems that your post is stating that Harley Davidson has endorsed this guy and is putting this video out. I dont think thats the case. Its just a guy rapping about a bike he likes.
I think thats where some people are getting it confused and thinking HD has hired this guy to go out and make videos to appeal to the younger crowd. I honestly feel that if that were the case the lyrics would be a lot different 'god damn' wouldnt be part of it and they REALLY wouldnt have had marijuana talk in there.
Harley Davidson does push an image, no doubt about it, it shows in a lot of their clothing etc. But they ARENT pushing a pro-drug lifestyle. They arent stupid (well, MOST of the time anyway).
As for younger people and Harleys - you'd be surprised how many people like that show on FX about biker gangs. At least in my area there are quite a few younger (18-30) guys that are into HDs and hate/dislike sportbikes. Everyone is different and thats ok.
