I have recently completed my Masters Degree in Health Management and Insurance Finance. I am in the process of writing projects about the Health Care Bill, and breaking it into bite size topics that are easy to digest. Sort of a Cliffs Notes for the bill (aging myself with that reference). I would like to solicit ideas from Bad Web for topics of discussion to be covered. I appreciate your advise, input, candor and debate; of course, lets try and keep the politics and party biased out of it. Barring Repeal and Revoke, this thing is coming down the pipeline, and parts of it are already live. Topics that are already in the works Advance Care Directives (The Case for Unplugging Granny) - e published Medical Math (pending proof reading) Medical Fraud (working paper) The Exchanges (in peer review) The 'Uninsured' tbd IRS and their Role tbd Commissioned Cadre Corps tbd Back room dealings (waiting FOIA info) Insurance v Entitlement (I have to remove the political leanings on that one !) Indications and Warnings (this will probably become an ongoing series as the bill is developed and actually implemented. the bill is 2600 pages in length, plus 1800 pages of amendments, addendum, appendices and references. And chasing the USC codes is a part time job !. It took me a month to read it in its entirety, and I understand insurance. I would like to thank Blake for the opportunity to list this posting here. |

I was wondering if there was ANYBODY who read that whole bill. I for one would love a cliff notes version! |

The format will start with direct quotes from the bill, with appropriate citations, and then an critical inspection of the implications, and finally a few examples of where that particular part has been applied, tried, implemented before.... and the success / failure of it. Maybe there is an TV deal to it and Angela Lansbury could star in it... Medical they Wrote ....(sorry, too many lattes ) |

Medical math has cleared proofing and is on the way to Html. I am one step above a kid with an etchasketch and crayons when it comes to most of this tech stuff. Probably the next one I tackle will be 'Meaningful Use' and electronic medical record requirements.... and why the IRS loves the idea. |

The IRS loves the idea because it gives them even more power to take YOUR MONEY!!!If you don't buy ins.the IRS collects the fine but you still don't have ins. |

Its worse than that. As of 9/1/2010; for any inpatient stay, you will be required to fill out proof of asset form, it is directly beholdant to the new ACA and forwarded to the IRS.... Because why wait until your dead, and only get half in an estate tax, then they can fine, levy, seize, assess and repo everything while you are on life support. Progressives never liked the way wealth and property were transferred from one generation to the next. Your Ass has just been Nationalized. RIP |

those last two months of being old and on basic life support are expensive, the government wants their money and they are going to take it on your way out - because it is easier than the alternative - fiscal responsibility and a smaller government (ooops thats political, I will have the form and the directive in that chapter ) |

This will be interesting to argue with a few people that I work with. Proof of asset form is something that I have been arguing about. I said it was in the bill and all I got was, It's not there, IT'S NOT THERE, they say. Brian, Do you have a page for that? |

Its not in the bill - and that is the really insideous thing. Think of the Bill that started the EPA; were all the regulations, codes, compliances, fines and directives in that bill? No - they were set to the subordinate agency as administrative actions. It is similarily with this. I will get a copy of the paperwork locally. I doubt it is on line anywhere, but I have had 6 patients in the last half a year that did indeed sign one on admit for 'terminal' life events (ie your survival rate of living is dismal) |
