Well... the day before I left for a three day work trip...... This.....
Caused workbench on the other side to move out, knocking over the XB parked next to the workbench! Bent bars, snapped off RH footpeg, bent peg stay bracket, damaged bar-end mirror mount(just bought CRG arrow mirrors)luckily only mount, not mirror damaged... phhew I was too worked up to take pics and just wanted to pick the bike up as soon as possilble.. the door was actually further in when it happened. It was easy to restage that for pics. everything on that workbench was on the floor next to the bike except the toolbox.. The bike is usually parked snugly against bench. This is after I picked it up look at the bars. I wonder how they didn't bend more, the fuel was topped of its at max weight. The car door actually snapped a stud!I can only imagine how violently it all moved.
The story is wife and daughter were in the car. My daughter was running late to walk to bus stop.So wife was going to drive her to the bus stop on the way to work. Well somehow my daughter saw the bus coming and opened door to jump out at the exact same time wife started backing out. Bam the door turned into the ultimate wrecking ball! As for the car, actually there was not much damage. the hinges were overextended and some metal damage on upper edge near the handle. |

The car was moving backwards.Im not sure how fast exactly but it wouldnt have to be much, it acted like a fulcrum when it jammed into the sheetrock wall. But yes she eats her vegetables! |

No one got hurt. Drywall is easy to fix. Replace the pegs with something tougher |

Well on the upside it could have been far worse both on your bike and your fam. Shit happens but you shouldn't have too much trouble fixing your bike. |

I know its all good. It was an upsetting crazy moment but in the end no biggie. The garage needed a facelift anyway. I have been wanting black bars for the bike for awile now. problem solved. the only thing that will be in worse condition at the end is the car.... who cares? its the wifes A little filler and some paint ..........good enough. thanks for the encouraging words people. Let's see, mine backed out and ripped a mirror off the car. Threw a softball through the $400 back window of a mini-van (after I had told her not to throw the ball against the steel door). Another one hit the gas pump guards at the local convenience store. And my son ran my old Jimmy down to 1/2 qt. of oil after I had asked him repeatedly if he ever checked his oil. I still love them though. |

I can't complain about anything MY kids do...When I was 15 I was backing our '85 Malibu station wagon out of the driveway by holding the door open and looking back. Foot slipped off the brake, floored the gas and bent the drivers door up against the front fender. $1500 dollars of damage in 1988 money. |

On a lighter note I get to work with EFB Designs for the replacements. |

Those stock pegs break if you look at them too hard. Glad everyone is ok and damage wasn't worse. |

Stick a carport in front of the garage for the wife's car & take out all that plasterboard. After all, it's now evident that your workshop is too small, & also it'll be so much easier for her not having to open the garage etc etc. |
