You know, I was actually losing sleep over this very issue... after traveling around the country I noticed that the desert areas do not have squirrels like they do in the east... I mean, the south has some pretty scary armadillos that like to terrorize single campers, but I didn't really notice the squirrel issue until I got to Georgia, and now I am wondering if we can ever disrupt their evil plot to take over half of the United States... the eastern half I mean. |

That's why I always carry peanuts with me whenever I venture outside. It's an effective distraction! |

OK He has a miniature Kevlar helmet and a miniature M-16. Does that mean he could get his paws on a miniature M1 Abrams tank? |

Moose and Squirrel are sworn enemies of Boris and Natasha. Look for an Arms race escalation if the little rodents are packing heat. |

That flack jacket and helmet tested for .22 lr hollow points? He'd make a good samich alone, couple more of his buddies would feed the family for a day or so. |

They're taking out houses around here if you mess with them. Created: Wednesday, March 16, 2011 9:16 a.m. Building burns in attempt to smoke out squirrels RICHTON PARK (AP) – A suburban Chicago man says he accidently set his home on fire while he was trying to smoke out the squirrels who'd taken up residence inside the walls. Robert Hughes says the sound of the squirrels running around inside the walls of his Richton Park townhome had been driving him nuts. Hughes says he set off a smoke bomb to drive the squirrels out and that led to the fire. Now, fire damage has forced Hughes and one of his neighbors from their homes. Hughes says he believes the squirrels are also gone. No injuries were reported, but the (Tinley Park) SouthtownStar reports that the homes were badly damaged. http://www.nwherald.com/2011/03/16/building-burns- in-attempt-to-smoke-out-squirrels/ab47xjg/ |

It's ALL GOOD. I know their weekness. We have a secret weapon we can deploy. It is called Okra, and it will save us all. |

LOL- I keep two bird feeders going year-round, got my GF's dog Chloe trained to do a bee-line to the tree from inside the house if she hears me say "squirrel"... I just directed another intervention/chase a few minutes ago! I'm all about cheap thrills... |

I have two whippets and a retired racing greyhound named "Camo"... needless to say, nothing that moves exists in our backyard except for our sight-hounds. During the winter, the squirrel forces thought that the snow would keep the hounds away. They paid for their mistake dearly. |

Our squirrels use our roof to travel from the front to the back of the house. It's amazing how loud they are when they jump from the tree to the roof! They land right above our bedroom with a loud thump, then you can hear them run to the other side of the house. So what's a good squirrel recipe? Someone's got to have one. |

Look up "Brunswick Stew." PS: As an added bonus, Brunswick Stew is also made with OKRA. (Message edited by jaimec on March 17, 2011) |

Preheat oven 350F 1 can each Campbells, cream of Mushroom & Cream of celery soup. 1 1/2 cups milk. 2 cups Minute rice. ( real rice works fine, I like Jasmine ) Mix. butter 9 x 13 pan fill with mix. Submerge squirrel fillets, from about 4 squirrels, ( no bones, just meat ) into mix, cut into aprox. 1 inch chunks. Sprinkle top with 1 pkg. Liptons onion soup mix. Cover pan with foil. bake 1 hr 45 minutes. Amount of meat can vary to taste. Also can substitute 2-3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into chunks. There are many other recipes, but this one is for the lazy. After you fillet a few squirrels, you don't need to sweat over the stove. Also cooking with rice makes it less gamey. |

Squirrel can be breaded and pan fried. Very good meat. I prefer squirrel over elk. |

I prefer squirrel over elk Dan with all due respect....... You are out of your ever loving mind! Elk is the taste of perfection, squirrel in comparison is like a cross between a cyst infested rabbit and a cancerous chicken. |

Our old routine was to roll out to Pearson Springs, about 3ish miles out one-way down the greenway, Loki running and me kicking my skateboard to navigate. Many times, if it was late or few people out, I'd run him off-leash... Once, got home from work after midnite, had to do a run down the greenway, Loki did the whole thing offleash. On the way back from the turnaround, I glanced/saw/??? a fox running- "Squirrel Boost!! Squirrel Boost!!" I believe it was a fox, way too fast for a raccoon, but my hound accelerated and gave chase, lost it at a hole in the brush... Aahhh, days of glory. |
