My Dad has found a 1982 Honda Magna 750 and wants to see if these are needed for parts or collectors or what not. I figured this would be a good place to ask. It was last tagged in 2000 and seems to be in decent shape. Is it worth trying to part out to anyone, or just try and sell it as is? | ||

I can probably get some pictures of it, if needed. Really I just wanted to ask around and see if anyone knows anything about this bike. | ||

At the time, the Magna was an expensive and complex bike. The engine is a descendant of the NS.NR750 motors. The sales of the Magna were lukewarm and as such, not too many units remain in service today. I don't believe it holds much collector's value (I could be wrong). There are a few die hard owners (my friend has one) and there might be a parts market for it. At $2K, I would pass on it. At $1K I'd be thinking about it. | ||

That would be a VF750C known as a V45 MAGNA, 1982 was the first year of production for that model, the speedometer only goes to 85 mph, in 83 and up they go to 160 i believe. they have a known oiling problem. i owned an '83 V45 and V65 magnas, very nice bike. | ||

I also had an '85 V65. Second to the Uly in my street bike fun book. Lots of torque, quite fast. The look never really caught on like I think they were hoping it would. I knew a couple of V45 owners back in the day. They were of a slightly more reserved riding class, who liked the look and feel. Of the Hondas, Harleys, and others of the time the Magnas were leading the Yamahammer's V-Max in the unusual looking, very fast, very powerful, upright, naked superbike class. Sitting straight up behind the high headlight and bars at 150+ was quite a rush. A good friend of mine had his 1984 V65 to 165 mph numerous times. I would also pass on that kind of price. I have seen a couple of decent looking, in need of minor repair, ride-able, V65's for $1600 to $1800 in the past year. | ||

Saw a V65 chopped in The Horse a while back- that thing was a MUTANT!! One of those chops that are truly SCARY when you think about it... Kewl though. | ||

While I liked the Sabre better, the Magna's were super smooth, with good power and ergo's for a cruiser. The bottom ends were a bit of a problem, especially the 500's. Mostly in the Interceptors. I witnessed an idiot who with 15 miles on his new V65 magna did a burnout in front of his house and left a connecting rod and his break in oil embedded in the road. I'd call that pilot error instead of equipment failure. It's on my list of 3rd bikes to get when I have enough garage space. | ||

I rode a newer one and really liked it. I think if it's in good shape, starts easily, runs well, and the rubber is in good shape it would be worth 2k. |
