Superglue came about as a by-product of research in how to close large shark bite wounds in an emergency situation. (Or, so I was told....) On topic: I bought a mesh jacket w/armor from Nearly New Enough. It's an Xelement and it works really well in the Florida heat. |

Last time I looked for bandaids there was a tube of medical grade superglue hanging on the rack next to them. Pretty sure it is still widely used in hospitals instead of stitches and staples because it might leave fewer scars because the skin is less distorted. (Message edited by Greg_E on March 08, 2011) |

Mine is a Reactor, very much like the Phoenix maybe just some variation since it's got leather on the shoulder, upper chest and elbows/fore -rms the rest is mesh. Seems to be a decent jacket. The rolled collar is a little low doesn't rub me the wrong way as Sayitaintso has commented on. It sit's at about the level of a big t-shirt on my neck and took a little getting used to. Doesn't bother me now, just a different fit from my other jackets. Regarding super glue, I used to glue cracked skin shut when my hands would crack from working in a cabinet shop. Closing the wound then gluing kept it from stinging too much. I don't know that I'd want to use it on road rash, ouch!! There's some nasty pics along with a google image search on the JR Phoenix 5.0 jacket, someone complained about the JR jacket but they'll all melt from the friction of a slide if they get hot enough, seems foolish to think otherwise. Nylon mesh is just glorified plastic. (Message edited by littlebuggles on March 08, 2011) |

I have had great luck with my Fieldsheer Super Sport jacket, it's my favorite leather jacket actually. I dig the zippered pocket where the low back protection is, it's perfect for carrying concealed, the padding does a good job of disguising the shape and keeps it comfortably away from your body. I have some of their mesh/perf'd leather overpants, have only used them a couple times. They seem fine, but haven't gotten much use so there's not a lot to judge from there. JR product just keeps ending up in my closet, their patches are a bit flashy for my taste, but they come off pretty easily. |

FirstGear Kilimanjaro. Does it all, from 130F in Death Valley last August - with the liner OUT - to 17F in Flagstaff January 9. Cheap on clearance at NewEnough...Like! +1 on the Joe Rocket mesh not fitting me too well either. Really light, but... |

I crashed in a Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh jacket. I think I would have been safer in a t-shirt. The thing ripped as soon as it hit the road, and the armor didn't stay in place. So, I now roll a VERY vented leather jacket. I use the PowerTrip Blackhawk jacket. I don't think it is available anymore, but it has big mesh panels that go from below the colar bone down the hip, wrapping under the arm (zero-impact area). I ride all summer long in that thing, and as along as I am moving about 35mph, I stay comfortable. |

Someone asked on page one about the Buell mesh jacket: The buell jacket that was ALL mesh with elbow pads/shoulder pads etc was made by Vanson I know I tried one on at Ukes at last years Homecoming, but just couldnt justify the money on it when I dont find my A* leather jacket all that hot anyway (except when at stoplights) Got a stunt2 alpinestar jacket from a friend, will be using it for the first time this summer, looking forward to seeing how much more it breathes over the leather |

Well here is the update: Today being my Birthday I purchased myself a New Tourmaster INTAKE Mesh Jacket! The jacket is really top notch! It has a armored outter mesh layer in which all of the armor is removable, I believe 4 inside breast pockets which velcro shut. The jacket has two removable liners, One is for rain and the other is a windbreaker type of liner. One cool feature is all of the liners have the inside velcro pockets so no matter which liner you are wearing (or none at all) you still have storage space! The fit and finish is really top notch! All zippers buttons and snaps really seem to be good quality! Also jacket has velcro straps on the waist, wrists and forearms so the wind does not flap it around, Which can be very annoying! I have not had the pleasure to road test it yet but yesterday being the nicest day in about two weeks (very windy 70 Degrees) I I was able to wear the outter mesh jacket outside the house for a bit and if felt like I had no more than a T-shirt on! I think this is going to be a Great Jacket! Thanks for all of your feedback on helping me select this Jacket! |

also, when I was at the store from which I purchased it, the sales rep told me for months they had that exact same jacket hanging in the store that had been down in an accident from a girl rider who went down at 85mph, He said the jacket was trashed but the girl walked away with absolutely no scratches! Now I know all crashes are different but it is a lill comforting to know it did its job at high speed! |
