I forget the exact amount, but the bill is due in the mail any day now, something like $75 per bike for a year in New York, which is higher than the cost of a car. My insurance is down to $2500 a year full coverage, for a XB12, 1125R, 1125CR, and Blast. |

In NZ it's $NZ650 per bike but that includes 'no fault' injury insurance. Just trying to get a handle on what people pay elsewhere. |

Compared to the UK-Not a lot! Also, Florida doesn't have any mandated vehicle inspections for tag renewal etc'. So you can run any "pipe" you like! (You just pay the penalty if you get pulled over for noise) |

In Cali: 4 bikes (oldest '96 newest '09) annual registration for 4: $680 annual insurance for 4: $1350 Dave.. a single answer from one of us is pretty meaningless. In Cali, the age of bike, owner, driving record, whether you have a garage or not, married yes/no, smoke yes/no, your credit score.... ...and many more factors play into what you pay. Vehicle value and Location (county/city) factors into the registration cost. If you have enough samples, you could get a national average I suppose. |

Just to drive that point home, I like Froggy, live in New York, but... Registration: $17 per year per bike Inspection: $7/year each bike Insurance: $450/yr for 2 bikes (about $325 if it were just one. |

In Aus it varies state by state too. Not greatly. Here there are no states. Also what muddies the water is that some places include compulsory insurance in the licencing - but they cover different things. |

In Iowa the registration for cars and SUVs depends on value, age & weight. Then go down with age. '02 Trailblazer $250, '03 C Class Benz $237 Pickups used to all be $75 since they were classified as a farm/work vehicle. But with all the country cadillacs that never see work or dirt they are starting to charge more for them. Bikes $20, less than 10 years old. I think it may drop after 10 years. Its been a long time since I've kept a bike that old. Insurance is $700, $600 for the vehicles, respectively. The '05 ST1300 is $320, '03 DR650 $225, all annual fees. If I lived in or next to a large city (well for Iowa) insurance would jump at least 25%. |

Its a bit of a trick question as it depends on what is covered. My insurance pays for medical bills and lost wages and quality of life, etc. for other people(if I'm at fault) and for me, then other people's damaged car or property, but not mine. That's $100/month for the Sportster but only $15/month for the Buell since it qualifies as a "collector vehicle" but then I can't ride it to work. The bike is about the same as the car. Insurance to repair my own vehicle if I'm at fault, and insurance for theft would both be more. Probably another $50/month. Do I guess correctly that in the event of a crash of your own doing, an American would cover their own medical bills and loss of enjoyment sort of claims out of some other personal insurance, possibly from home insurance or work? |

Registration for each of my bikes here in Montana was $65 and the tag is good for as long as you own the bike. Insurance is $240 per year. |

Seven bikes and two trailers.... went up to $20.00 each. My Sonoma was bought in late December and the plates were to be $85.00........grandfathered in. Paperwork went thru in January and they nicked me for $135.00,even tho I bought the truck in 09 and the paper work was post marked 2009. They said, tough crap. I turned around and jerked all but two bike plates and put them in storage,as well as the trailer plates and the Pinto plates. Those two remaining plates will cover all my motorcycle and trailer needs as long as I keep my nose clean when I swap plates around.(Trailer and bike plates are the same)In the end, they honestly screwed me....and lost a bunch of revenue in return. Best part is.......they know why I did that. They could be watching for me,but my main rides have the correct plates. I would have stored the Sonoma plates,no often that I use it....but would have to use my S-10 plates that are vanity..........so pretty easy for the "local" to tell that the Sonoma has the wrong plate on it. By now,I should be money ahead ,even if I get dinged for improper registration once. All the bikes together is around $900.00 a year for insurance. Coverage varies, depending on how much I like each bike respectively. |

IIRC I just paid around $535ish (annual) for my 05 XB9SX and my 77 Shovel, both basic/full coverage, with a decent replacement value for the Shovel. And about $30 each for registration. (Message edited by 86129squids on March 02, 2011) |

I'm starting to feel like Utah is more expensive to live in than I thought. Registration: $137 per year for the '07 STT, $97 for the '00 M2. (Price goes down with the vehicle's age, but all fees went up last year; it's $10 or $15 more if I get the vanity plate for the TT that I want). Inspection: $9/ every other year each bike. Insurance: $700/yr for 2 bikes (Full coverage for the 07, the 00 gets basic until I get the forks, carb and tranny rebuilt). |

In my experience it is cheaper getting quotes online. Some of the bigger companies offer discounts when ordering online, because it is less work for them. But to be safe you could compare quotes online, pick the best offer and try a local agency to see if they can match it or do better. I recommend this site for online comparing: http://www.quotes-center.com (Message edited by brian964 on March 02, 2011) |

Registration fees are just over $400 per bike in Queensland but that includes Compulsory Third Party Personal insurance like NZ. That's for large bikes (anything over 250cc I think). If I converted the bike to a solo that roughly halves the cost. Comprehensive insurance is roughly $600 for the 1125R and $350 for the X1 (40yo rider with good history, full no claim bonus). Licensing just cost me $40 to renew for 2 years. |

Lets see, in NM its $17 a year for registration on my `08. My Insurance is about $650 / year. There is only one emission controlled county here and I don't register my bike or truck there, so no inspection fees. |
