It's always a friend of a friend of a friend of a cousin story but this story is mine and I think it's awesome. I work for the city and six months ago we purchased a large building that was very dilapidated. Years and years ago it was a grocery, most recently it was a garage. Recently there was an 87 Dodge Daytona Turbo inside that I was really interested in just for the fact I used to have an 86 Chrysler Laser. Same car, different badges, it was a great car. Well, the former owner pulled it out and it's disappeared. There were several of us there today and the roof has almost completely caved in and the building inspector and I were checking out the inside. Most everything is destroyed either by weather or vandals. As we were coming around the back side of the building there was a pad locked door but it was hinged at the top so we could pull it back so we went in and there it was. A 1968 Lincoln Continental Limousine. Black on black, complete interior and a 460 under the hood. Awesome. It's a little rough but it's all there. As easy as it was to get in the door I'm surprised the vandals haven't torn it all to pieces. I'm sure the previous property owner will take it but if the city ends up with it I'm going to bid. I have pics but they're at work. I'll load some up later. |

kyrocket - my first car was a 84 laser. Turbo, paid 750 for it in 98. Decent car, loved the boost, but then I didnt realize how important OIL was to a motor....popped her in 3 months (had a small leak). I was 16, I was dumb |

You sure Jimmy Hoffa isn't in the trunk? |

LOL, we said the same thing. We couldn't get the trunk open but it wasn't for lack of trying. There sure is enough room for him back there. I'm working on pictures now, they're on the camera so I'm sure I'll have to resize them. Just be a few. |

O.K. lets see if I can upload some of these. The first two give you an idea of what kind of shape the building was/is in. The van didn't fair so well.
Here's the van.
Here's the first sight of the car. I put the camera up to the door and snapped a shot so I could see it better. This is before we knew we could get in the door.
Here's a shot of the trunk. It's massive.
And the 460 under the hood.

I've located a 1960 Chrysler Imperial that was owned by Duncan Renaldo, aka The Cisco Kid from 50's TV. It needs a full resto and the family can't decide if they want to sell it or not. I'd love to cruise through town with War's "The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine" playing on the radio. |

"One of my dream cars is the Lincoln 'vert with suicide doors" The front doors open as usual then there is about a 3 or 4' section and the rear doors are suicide doors. I have some photos of the interior I need to load up. The previous owner of the property called the Mayor today, I haven't yet found out what the conversation was about but I will and let you all know. Hybrid: my second car (I went from an Olds 350 rocket to a four banger) was the '86 Laser that I bought in '91. Five speed, no turbo, but fun as heck to drive. Although it had the turning radius of an 18 wheeler. |

KY - did yours have the problem of turning off on hot days on its own? I'd have to let it sit for a bit and unscrew the gas cap to relieve the pressue and she'd fire back up and run again |

friend of mine had a big battle boat mercy wagon with the 429 in it and fake wood panelling. it was the ungodliest ugly family truckster you had ever seen..... we got really blot one night and decided to cut the roof off and make a beach 'convertible'. sanded off the 'paneling' primed it in 'rust' and ran it, all the way until we all graduated from college. Stupid fun went from ugly trukster to party roller cathedral roadster with bench seating for a dozen ! |

Sounds like the previous owner is going to remove it He has until 6a.m. Monday morning. His brother wants the van hahahahaha good luck with that. There's a 10" wide beam about 12" deep in the roof. Hybrid, mine didn't have many, if any, problems at all. I have to admit that was one of the most dependable cars I ever had. An old man from Tenn. rear ended me on the interstate and totaled it, I was bummed. Mine had the computerized voice that would talk to you and it would check EVERYTHING from tail lights out to oil pressure to windshield washing fluid. It was cool at first but I had to turn the voice off after a while. |

Just for those interested I went by yesterday to see if demolition had started. It had not, but the utility marking guy was there marking lines and the door was open and the car gone. Don't know where it went and maybe it's better that way. |
