embryonic stem cell research is the issue, not what was used in this case.
Actually it was only government funding for research using new lines of embryonic stem cells. Government funding using the current lines of embryonic stem cells, or stem cells from non-embryonic sources continued. I wish people understood what they were bitching about.
Most folks have no problem with stem cell research.
The issue comes in when someone seeks to use fertilized human embryos or worse to fertilize embryos specifically for organ harvesting funded with government dollars.
There is NOTHING that prohibits PRIVATE ventures from funding their own embryonic stem cell research.
It's pretty despicable how so many people have tried to claim that GWB was against stem cell research. The truth is that his was the first administration to provide funding for stem cell research. There were zero restrictions put in place for research that didn't receive federal money. I don't see any way that you can reasonably sat that this is being against stem cell research. It's sad that people have fallen for this BS.
Sorry to dive deeper into a political partisanship... but I think it's on topic.

I know I get blindspots based on my preferred new sources (i.e. Fox News).
What todays young-uns need to understand, is that they get blindspots based on their preferred news sources (i.e. NPR, CNN, CBS, NBC, huffington post).
From Winston Churchill:
"If you are young and conservative, you have no heart. If you are old and liberal, you have no brain."
The conventional treatment for road rash (after picking out the gravel anyway) is basically the same as burns so I would think it would work pretty effectively.
Blake, exactly my thoughts. 2nd degree burns - while painful - aren't generally at risk for infection. It;s just a feel good piece of journalism. That is not to say that some variant of this idea isn't worthy of further study.
