Wonder how long they are gonna make E-B-R wait before letting them know if they can use the 1190RS |

I would so be headed to Daytona if I knew the 1190 would be running. Watching Higbee go from dead last to 8th was beyond what words can describe last year. |

court - are you saying the 1190 will run the daytona race? Please say yes or no cause if its YES then I, too, will go down there. Its only 9 hours from me, i'll make a quick weekend of it, but would only do so for the 1190 I know what you said in another thread about having the bike sorted out etc before a race and how the 1125 was already proven and dialed in VS a fresh bike But the post above seems to say differently wolf - i was under the understanding that to be legal you had to have bikes to sell to consumers, so I'd figure they'd have to actually have some made and for sale first, but Im not sure how that whole thing works |

2011 is going to be an historic year for Erik Buell Racing. Geoff May will be racing his heart out no matter what bike he's on. There should be at least one Buell (and Badwebber)in the Daytona 200. Don't miss out on an opportunity to say "I was there" for Daytona and the first race of the historic 2011 season just because Geoff may not be riding the 1190. It sounds like there's a good chance the street version of the 1190 will be on display even if it's not allowed to race. If you have the chance, go there and show SpeedTV and Erik Buell Racing's sponsors and the world that American Sportbikes are alive and well and there are enthusiastic fans lining up to cheer on the first, true American Superbike. |

Can't improve much on these wise words . . .
quote:Don't miss out on an opportunity to say "I was there" for Daytona and the first race of the historic 2011 season just because Geoff may not be riding the 1190. It sounds like there's a good chance the street version of the 1190 will be on display even if it's not allowed to race.
I suspect this is the last year Buell will have to compete with one arm tied behind it's back. I've not a clue as to if the 1190 will make an appearance. I . . on the other hand . . will. Just think . . . if I hadn't been there in 1997 . . one of the Brittens wouldn't have run. Great memories . . .
quote:Stroud on the VENATOR/BRITTEN took the lead of the 15 lap race late in lap one, again hotly pursued by Cathcart on a Yamaha. Stroud maintained his lead throughout the race. The main threat came from the second Britten factory backed entry the 10k/MANSSON TECHNOLOGIES/BRITTEN ridden by Daytona expert Michael Barnes. This was the first outing for the new (No 8) Britten V1000 delivered to the US in early Jan. Barnes started from the 10th row of the grid and powered his way through the large field to take second place on lap 8. This brilliant ride resulted in the win and the second placing for the Britten entries (6 seconds) behind Stroud.
and . . . how many of you knew Barnes rode the #8 Britten? |

It was a spectacular year . . . . I was standing in the hot pits when the AMA came up and told the Britten team they could not go out sporting the #1 they had on the bike . . . the rest of the pack was out on the hot lap and the official told them they had like 60 seconds to be on the track or head back to the garage. I was standing there, right behind the wall listening. Suddenly I remembered I had a roll of Scotch 33+ in my back pocket. I whistled as loud as I could . . . when the guy turned I frisbee'd the roll to him. Cool beans. Instant number |
