i am a confident street rider. i've been riding for 7 years now. 4 on buells. my first track day is coming up. right now i've got a new set of pirelli angels on my 1125. i was gonna drop a couple hundo for a set of corsas to put on a spare set of rims, and run them only on the track, keeping the angels for daily riding. i called up the track organizer to ask some frist-timer questions and they said that i'd be fine running my street tires for my first time. although the reviews are very inspiring; i realize that the angels are not intended for track riding, but if i can put off dropping the $, that'd be cool. i'm not looking to break the track record, but i do not want these tires to contribute/be a significant factor in a wipeout on my first tack day. will these tires heat up, and stick like they should? or will i quickly out-ride their capabilities and be buying replacement bike parts once i get released from the hospital? anybody personally run a set these tires on the track or have FIRST-HAND experince riding them to their full capabilities? i know the 'best' way to go would be to get a set of teh most expensive, 'tippy-toppest of the line', newest product that pirelli has to offer. but i am not made of money, and am seeking reasonable advice from reasonable folks ... ... thank you |

I love these tires, but I am strictly a street rider. I ride as hard as I can but I do hang off more than necessary to leave room for more bike lean in case of an "oh s***" moment - I have not has these tires slip on me once - and on the side they do (or at least used to) have some claim of a record they set. Just my $.02 |

While they may not be the "ideal" track tire, if you can exceed their capabilities, you're really flying! |

I love the Angels for the street, but don't run them on the track. Sport Touring tires are designed to heat up quickly. Track tires take more time to warm up, but tolerate high heat much better. Depending on the pace you run at the track, the ST tires will get greasy and you'll be on your fanny before you know it. I took a few laps on a friends SV650 shod with Pilot Roads at Barber. I didn't realize it was wearing ST tires and I saved it on my knee in turn 5 when the front end tucked. It scared the crap out of me. |
