Why would the military be sitting on a billion dollars worth of prescription drugs? Someone ordered too much? |

Good to know. My mother-in-law has some bottles from the 70's, possibly earlier. Same goes for her spice cabinet... looks like an antique store in there. And she's a lunch lady. Go figure. ~SM |

I've got some Army issued Ibuprofren from 2005 sitting in my cabinet. I hardly ever throw pills away because I've been told by medics and PAs that most pills are good to go for a long time after the expiration date. Keeping the meds safe from light and heat and humidity also help. |

i thought the reason was so you wouldn't save antibiotics, you always should take all of a prescription.failing to take all of them can strengthen a virus. |

Putting your drugs in a brown paper bag and tossing them into your freezer will preserve then a long, long time. Just a guess, but the military might be sitting on all those drugs in case of a major war / pandemic. Think "outbreak". The worry of needing to turn them over every 3 years or so seems to indicate this. |
