The prophets of Doom have always been around.I remember reading about them back in the mid 60s when I was in High School. A chapter in my Religion class was titled Professor No and the Prophets of Doom Sometimes there are miserable bastards who get their jollies telling everyone who'll listen how bad things are, and how much worse they're going to get. is that a motorcycle ramp into a tree fort ? priceless civil war and the confederate currency loss of the gold standard loss of the silver standard loss of the valuation of the dollar as the international unit of currency trade 'patriot' dollars or some iteration there of are indeed next. that dollar is only worth a dollar because the vender agrees it is.... but if you have talked to your grand parents about the nickle candy bar, you know that your dollar is worth LESS, inflation widdles it every year. at somepoint they will have to reset it. and it is on the horizon, I am betting 2017-2020; new currency. (like they didnt just INVENT the EURO!) | ||

Yeh, ask the Krauts how that Euro thing is working out for them (bad). Ask the Squareheads how not joining the Euro-union is working out for Norwegian currency (good). PIIGS, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Iceland, Greece, Spain, all upside down with their alms bowls extended for bailouts. When I was much younger, Nixon took us off the gold standard and I lost a bunch of money in commodities, pork bellies and summer eggs 1971. That's when I began my edumikation in how money works. And how national economies don't. | ||
