Anybody have any experience with these little critters? My wife is a bit "clutch challenged, and this looks like a good one to get her going, but won't be something that I'll feel the need to get rid of later on down the road. I think a couple of these in the bed of a truck would be a hoot.

Any experiences?

its one of the bikes I teach MSF BRC on.

Great bike, easy to ride

Its one of the bikes I will make students ride.
If my class is short students and a tw isn't chosen to ride... I will make a student give up every other bike we have in the fleet to ride the TW.... its just that easy to ride.

Plus most instructors use it to ride the demo's on because we can make just about any exercise look easy when riding the TW.

GET IT!!

Good MSF bike. Almost stands up by itself with the huge tire in the back. Nice for around town if you're not in a hurry. Is a "cult" bike and seem to hold their value well based on the ones I've owned. Haven't really changed much in 20 years, good parts availability. Pretty much bomb proof, same basic engine's been around since the early 80's.

I have seen students dish out punishment to those TWs and they just keep on running. Great little bikes.
A bit of advice though; don't try to teach your wife to ride!!!! Let someone else do it, you will stay married longer.

I like the fact that they are street legal, and of course, the big fat tires!

The fat tires look comforting to beginners, but they do catch ruts if you get up any speed, on dirt that is.

Off road you don't pick a line, you just run over it. I had one last year. Fat tires slid a lot on snowy roads. Mine topped out at about 63 mph indicated. I wouldn't feel comfortable running it that fast for long distances. Resale prices are up there. There are some TW-boards out there. Lot of neat mods. I could hit 5th gear crossing an intersection. Low gearing. I used 2nd and 3rd gears in the figure eight box. I could spend minutes in there doing one figure eight. Sit on the tank and you can make time stand still. It's a hoot riding in town. NOT an interstate bike!

+1 Truer words have never been spoken.

She rides a big bad assed scooter now, so she has a bunch of miles behind her on 2 wheels. It's just the clutch thing. The plan is to turn her loose and say, "See ya when you get back!"

Thanks for the info, guys.
