There is another thread about Homecoming that kind of explained some things. |

There is no sending money.. Your in charge and stay where you want. June 3-5 weekend. It would be nice if we all can agree on a place to stay so we are in the same spot. Whether its East Troy area(Alpine Valley) or Road America. If we get that established, the rest will fall into place! (Message edited by americanmadexb on January 22, 2011) |

Steve_Mackay said in another thread,"BrewCity Thunderbikes wont be doing it, as it takes up far too much of our time at the meetings. We're planning on doing it the weekend of the AMA races at Road America, which is June 3rd through the 5th. http://www.roadamerica.com/Races/RaceInformation.a sp?id=240 We've talked with Erik Buell Racing, and have a few things planned.... Thursday ride to Great Lake Dragaway in Union Grove for some drag racing... Friday, a ride around the southern Kettle Moraine area. And visit to Erik Buell Racing.... Saturday, a ride to the AMA races at Elkhart Lake. Right now, there is no formal dinner planned. But we were thinking of doing an informal thing at Romas http://www.romaswi.com/ It wont be as "planned" as last year. Rocco and Dana did an OUTSTANDING job. And I, and the rest of us locals just don't have the time to commit to such a large event. Any thoughts, suggestions?" Slaughter, it looks like we will all be making our own way with lodging. Sounds like a great time. |

Cool beans. I'm all for supporting Romas! They really pulled it out for us last time with no prior notice. Amazing folks - and they have a history there with Buell and now EB Racing. |

FYI, Romas stepped up when Gus's didn't for last years HC. Gus's Drive-In is an awesome place, and I have NO ill feelings for them, but when we spoke with them about a discount or something to help out with Homecoming, they were not interested, where as Romas gave a discount. That being said, if the main objective is riding and watching races, there are some nice hotels and campgrounds near the track, but the prices go up around race events. Also as Dana mention on a different HC thread, Alpine gets PACKED and their room rates go through the roof IF it's the same weekend as a concert. Not to mention the traffic getting in and out of the place. I don't believe the concert schedule comes out until May, and you'd have to check the Alpine Valley amphitheater website as they are not part of Alpine the hotel. We hoped against hope there wouldn't be a concert the weekend we picked for HC last year and we lucked out. Alpine will be hit or miss. Just trying to help out a little. |

Words of advice. Stay in the Road America area. If you's want to do something in East Troy thats awesome. Make it a afternoon thing where you guys can do a organized or non organized ride from Road America to East Troy. Making it a afternoon event. Saving everyone the 2 hour trip back and forth to the track everyday. The night life during the races in town in Elkhart will be very unforgettable for all.... trust me. Thats where the wife and I will be...... every year. (Message edited by bads1 on January 24, 2011) |

I agree. . . in fact the trick set up would likely be to snag a place or a camp ground near East Troy if you are there Wed or Thur night then move to Road America (or anywhere in the general area of RA) for the next couple days. Best bet (and you still may be able to snag a room) is right in town . . particularly if you'll be partying at night. The rooms are pricier, due to proximity, than the stuff in East Troy but heck you can split a room between a couple or three folks. Key is to reserve now. It's always a fun time and this year should be fantastic. |

I'm really torn this year on which event to attend... Two of the biggest things that I rave over are... 1. Buell Motorcycles/Road Racing 2. Space Exploration I about crapped myself when I heard the news that the last shuttle launch will take place in June. I have never seen one, and I'd really like to go watch several tons of equipment ride a "controlled" explosion into GSO. Depending on the timing of both HC and this launch.... I might have to skip this year. We'll see. I also REALLY... REALLY... REALLY... enjoyed the track day last year at BHF. That was a very fast and fun track and I had a blast. If memory serves me correctly, Road America allows the fans out on the track for a few laps correct? That would be worth hauling the leathers up and getting suited up for some knee draggin. So long as I can get a good control rider or seasoned rider to show me the lines. OurDee... ever seen a launch a before? |

Road America allows the fans out on the track for a few laps correct Actually no they don't for what you think it is. Actually its a parade lap. You are completely controled by a pace car. I won't do it because to many morons go out there and cause accidents because they think they are Rossi or something. And thats not what it about.... its a tour of the track from your own motorcycle seat is all. |

Geforce ya got me thinking now. I have always wanted to see a launch also and I know this is the last one here for a few years. I will also have the time to do it because i will be laid off in a few weeks........Hmmmm |

Yeah, if I end up going to FL instead of HC this year. I'm gonna go large and tour the area. I hear active duty military get in free or discounted. I would love to crawl through all their toys and take some pictures. |

>>>>I'd really like to go watch several tons of equipment ride a "controlled" explosion into GSO. Good . . . see you at Road America. But . . . the folks are right. The CAN be a fools parade. I've seen some nasty crashes during this lap and have, over the past several years, gathered a ton of "non-conforming" photos. This ride includes dressers and folks in halter tops and shorts . . . there'd be no need to bring your leathers. But . . . it will be a great time. |

Sorry I can't coordinate camping near East Troy... but Mukwanago County Park was a beautiful spot... really spacious and secluded... not too hard to reserve either, but someone would want to get a move on it soon... PM me if any one wants more information! |

Heres my guess..... pretty good too. Erik and company will stay in Elkhart for the weekend. Qualifying and such Thursday and Friday at Road America. So that may give some indication where Erik may be. Hes known many times to play at the Tiki bar at THe Victorian Village resort. If he'd like I could hook him up at the new Tiki bar that is much nicer at the Hosthoff next door. So if I'm correct and he is playing there. You may want to stay in that area. That way if you wanna drink and party with the band you can stumble up to your room. If not.... you'll be riding home early missing that performance. If you do stay then its a 2 hour ride back in the dark dodging deer. Please guys do really think about it. Hanging out at the Victorian,Sibkens, and The Osthoff which are all right next to one another cannot be beat.... no way no how. |
