So yet another post asking about helmet audio systems. I am getting closer to what I want having just purchased and Archos 43it "tablet" which has a full Bluetooth 2.2 stack. I've tested it with a cheap ($12) bluetooth headphone receiver and the controls all work as I expect and sound quality is good enough for headphones and a few other uses. I am going to buy a BlueAnt F4 Interphone for the helmet half since I can't afford the Schuberth system that mounts so nicely in their helmets. The F4 does offer next and previous track controls, but those are on the helmet with the receiver. Parrot has a system with a clamp on bars remote but some of the reviews didn't impress me enough to plop down the money. So this gets to the heart of the question... Does anyone know of a motorcycle (or other) AVRCP (audio/video remote control protocol) device that I could pair with my player? |

Look at the Cardo G4. The mounting is better and gives full MP3 controls plus FM (never used), long battery life |

After talking to a company that specializes in bluetooth devices, it seems it is not yet possible to pair an A2DP device and separate AVRCP device.Looks like bluetooth needs to evolve a little more before this can happen. Also the G4 does not have a handle bar mounted remote control, the only one that I know of that does have this is the Parrot and reviews say the F4 has better sound and a few other things. |

Greg- Have you tried the GPS on the Archos? I was looking at those but there wasn't much info and I wondered what you actually got with the monthly fee. |

Greg: I've had both G4 and F4. The F4 has the boom mounted to the left headset and the speakers were too thick for my helmet. I've been using the G4 for a year and the the speakers work well with earplugs in. Audio quality? It is inside a motorcycle helmet.. The ability for software updates has improved performance. Which one do you actually use? |

Getting ready to buy an F4 and I have a modular helmet so the boom is the correct type for me. The helmet also has recesses for a stock communications system so I should hopefully have enough room for the speakers. I will see if there are updates to the reviews for the G4 and see what I think before I plunk money down. Schuberth uses a G4 system built into a helmet collar for their latest system (C3 helmets) but it is stupidly expensive ($400+), I have an old Schuberth Concept that I am using. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/schuberth-src-s ystem-c3 All that said I see they are importing a version for the older helmets http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/schuberth-src-s ystem-for-c2-concept This might be the winner just for the clean look and greater certainty that I won't get a whistle from the device sticking on the side of the helmet. Have to see if the C2/Concept version will fit a C3 as I will want to get a new helmet sometime in the future and $400 is a lot to lay out is I can't move it to the new helmet. As far as GPS for the Archos... They do not have a GPS radio in them so I can't see how any GPS app could work with them without a bluetooth external or USB external GPS receiver. I also wouldn't leave my 43 out exposed, it is by no means water resistant. My plan is to load a playlist, stick it in a pocket on in a bag, and ride. |

That's what I thought, from the little info available it made it sound like it connected via Bluetooth on your phone for the GPS (even though it didn't explicitly say that). It also said the monthly fee was $15. I asked what do you get for the fee and they couldn't tell me. |
