I dont understand the issue....at all. She is upset that the mall never called to check on her, that the security guards didnt arrive until twenty minutes later etc....WHY WOULD THEY CALL HER????? Yes, it is embarassing and Im glad no one was injured, but shes just some random person who had an accident, happens all of the time.
This is the problem with America. I love this country and think its a wonderful place, but people like this make me sick to my stomach. And i am being serious. It really does upset me when I hear about someone doing something silly and not even getting hurt, but they want money for it.
Im sure that fountain has been around for a long long time, and Im sure no oen has gotten injured in it before. But now They'll have to close it up or rope it off etc cause of one idiot.
That was funny. I don't think the law suit would be for the fountian, not getting help ect. But for the video being released to the public. I really don't know what the laws are for security footage, but some might say it was unproffesional for a security company to put security footage on you-tube. On the other hand some might say she was stupid and it was fracking funny. Don't do stupid $4!t in public as it will end up on you-tube..
Here's the thing... if she kept her mouth shut, no one would ever know who she was. Now that she's suing, the WHOLE WORLD knows she's the idiot who wasn't paying attention to where she was going.
Anyone want to take bets she drives a car the same way?
I saw that earlier today and pretty much agree with everyone else; idiot. She was so caught up in a text that she couldn't look up to see where she was going? Serves her right. I hope she sues, loses and has to pay the lawyer an enormous amount of money. She didn't even stay there long enough to help; fall, splash, pop up and run away. Done. Your a bozo, now everyone knows it, deal with it. And I would bet she does it while driving too.
I love that you can hear the production crew in the studio laughing their asses off when the video plays.
If she sues, I hope the judge sentences her for wasting the court's time and resources.
Clean that fountain for a year in a bright orange jumpsuit.
And..."same treatment I got"? SHE LEFT THE SCENE!!! If it was "an old lady" who was really in trouble...I bet the old lady would be floundering around in the fountain, not leaving the scene in embarrassment.
Just checked the calendar thinking maybe this was April 1st... nope - she's a complete imbecile - and the BIGGER fools will be the ones (judge or jury) to award her a dime.
I'm having a hard time even processing this idiot's issues.
To think of mall security as a bunch of "professionals" is way out of line. This dummy works at the mall and knows that fountain is there and still managed to fall into it ! The employee who got fired should be suing her and the mall. I hate to see a regular Joe sacrificed in a rediculous knee jerk reaction to rediculousness such as this.
You guys are all screwed up in the head. That poor woman deserves to own that mall for their stupidity of not having a protective barrier around that fountain to keep her from falling in. Not really I agree, she is a complete idiot. Thank God she wasn't driving. Sorry guys I was having an Obama moment there
maybe they should put 'warning track' tiles by the fountain so people wont be led afoul.... and maybe we could get a safety endowement and a national ad campaign to go with it..... you know what if it was your kid ! think of the children !
too stupid to walk. please someone take her car keys.
That was completely PATHETIC. Add in that smarmy schmuck of a lawyer, now give me a place to puke- oh yeah, maybe that FOUNTAIN, for the next time the dumbaisss walks thru the mall...
she should lose.... its not like the fountain jumped out in front of her, and with it being a fountain, do you think she might have been able to hear water running? but then again who knows! all i know is that i will probably puke if she gets a ton of money out of this deal!
Of course, she was so embarassed and hurt by seeing herself on youtube she went on national television so that everyone in the country would be able to identify the anonymous moron as HER.
"Bob and Tom" said this morning that the woman just happens to already be facing charges for unauthorized use of a co-worker's credit card (~$5000 worth) and a hit-and-run car accident.
What if she stumbled over a baby carriage? Or walked into a column and cut her head open or tripped over someones foot stretched out while sitting down.... It's too dangerous.
What malls need are Obstacle-free walking lanes... brightly painted lines on the floor so you can text and see the lines in your peripheral vision. 3-types, keep it simple like traffic lights
green: safe to text yellow: cautious texting area red: texting very dangerous/not reccommended
OR ... make the mall completely texting/wifi/cellphone jammed except for designated area's. Hey,..they got smoking areas on the boardwalk don't they? Isn't that for someone's safety/health?
You reckon (read think) she did the mall fall on purpose? I mean think about it, 1) she can play the sympathy card and have this other thing forgotten about and 2) she sues the mall, lands a windfall, and pays off the stolen cc debt and has some to boot. It was obvious in the footage from the security camera that she wasn't hurt. Before only a few people knew her, now everyone in America plus some know she's a walking imbecil...who can't walk and text.
I FINALLY watched the original video. She has NO case.
Right after she fell into the pool, she immediately got up and left. Alternate camera view CLEARLY shows her talking to a Mall Employee (unless, of course, ordinary people always walk around malls pushing mops, brooms, and garbage pails).
So... Some one from the mall DID inquire about her well-being, contrary to what she claims... and she didn't stick around long enough for Mall Security to even show up and lend a hand.
The only case she's got is the release of the video to YouTube... but her privacy was intact (you can't see a face or anything in the video) UNTIL SHE MADE HERSELF PUBLIC with the ridiculous lawsuit.
And now, the rest of the skeletons in her closet are coming out for air. Beautiful.
does that fountain make you wet baby? does it take your feet out from under you? who is a dirty dirty text machine? yeah baby Now pout, pomp , tease it, work it, ok I m done.
Rule one: before hinting at a lawsuit, make sure you don't have any outstanding felony charges yourself.
Fountain Lady, who became an Internet sensation last week after walking into a mall fountain while texting, said on Good Morning America Thursday that she might sue the mall where she fell.
I guess malls have to plan ahead for visitors who abstain from watching where they're walking.
Fountain Lady's lawyer told ABC News he intends to "hold the responsible parties accountable" for the incident, though it's unclear whether this references that no railing prevented her from falling in the fountain, that nobody responded to the incident after she fell or that a video of her fall was released.
But it turns out that "Fountain Lady," also known as Cathy Cruz Marrero, faces legal charges herself - charges even more serious than assuming that pedestrians can avoid large structures on pathways.Marrero was charged in late 2009 with running up bills of more than $5,000 on a coworker's credit account at Target and Zales, according to ABC News. She was supposed to repay the money but never did, and will appear in court for sentencing in April.
We can only hope her lawyer will give her a two-for-one discount.
Meanwhile, Fountain Lady is complaining that none of the mall staff helped her out of the fountain or even asked her if she was okay.
Regardless of whether this is grounds for legal action, there is no denying that the video is still hilarious.
