Im not embarassed that I watched it. Not a lot of shows you can watch with your kids and have a rational disscussion about. I thought it was good. Its hard to tell till later in the competition but I dont think I will miss Cowell. I like the diverse musical background of the judges and the fact that they were/are all artists. I never understood Ellen. |

The wife and I watch it also. She always says the first half of the season is her favorite because of all of the idiots who try out and the judges reactions to them. Steven Tyler looks to be great there as a judge. Jennifer Lopez.....I will never know if she will be a great judge or not.....I appear to be biased.....like when I told the wife J-lo could be her replacement(that was stupid, could not believe I said it out loud). Randy needs to step in for Simon and be the tough guy. It would improve his character. But what do I know? I like the latter half of the season, when the tuning and prepping shows on the rough seeds that they start with. Fun watching a kid develop into a star. |

I watch (if I remember) until the actual competition begins. I love watching people making an ass out of themselves. |

Watched it. As others have said someone needs to step up to be the mean judge. Watching J-Lo is better than any of the others they've ever had! |

While walking through the living room last night I was stopped and frozen dead in my tracks (like a deer caught in a spotlight). There was Steve, J Lo, and Randy singing along with some girl, she looked happy as hell having the three sing along with her...then as soon as she finished Steve fell over to his side laughing and spit out a huge NO. J Lo and Randy quickly followed with NOs also. It was classic, build em up...... chop 'em down just when they think they've succeeded. To me thats more cruel than Simon ever was. |

I am glad that there is American Idol on TV and Dances with the stars and other "reality" TV. It reinforces the goodness of my decision to junk my last TV over a decade ago. |

Nope, not gonna watch it. Don't like pop music, and don't like reality shows (unless you count the Food Network ). I spend more time on the computer than TV, and now that school is starting up again, I will have less time to watch my current favorite shows, A-Team and Miami Vice. |

Never seen idol or dance.....no need. I have seen The Gong Show......and now slightly embarrassed for admitting that. |
