Blake Way back in this thread (or maybe it was another related one) you made a statement to the effect that you are a target for a variety of reasons. Seriously, why do you think that is ?
Since you've set the standard that
endless unconditional kindness in the face of malicious hateful lies is foolishness ..............
It's rarely your position, for certainly others here share similar views and none of them have evoked the same negative level and tone of response. It's simply you. Your posts and responses quickly turn to venom and bile. You seem to be the one to so often draw first blood.
It's interesting to see that you can accept the same advice from a christian that you make fun of from an atheist. No matter - as long as your hear the message I suppose it's all good.
So I hope you enjoy yourself and good luck with the fire and brimstone proselytizing. Your babbling is nonsensical and your logic perverted, if present at all.
You have become the Sarah Palin of Christianity on the BW. Read back on some other folks comments.
I don't usually say this but this subdirectory should go immediately to the Backfire Board. I have no dogs in this fight but disrespect is being met with disrespect here. This disrespect is pingponging, is inappropriate and needs to cease.
One shouldn't be surprised to find other Christians defending a defender of the faith against anti-Christian detractors whose joy in life is to pick nits and support the unsupportable in relation to what Christianity is.
Pagans often appear to believe that all Christians turn all their cheeks all the time. Responding to anti-Christian dialogue is a branch of theology called "apologetics." It has nothing to do with making apologies.
It is participants here who would make an individual the Sarah Palin of Christianity on the BW. People give Ms. Palin a lot of power to make her ability to make them upset or angry. Seems like some here do the same for Blake.
Hi Mox (its me, midnightrider) Blake's taken a burn again and suspended my privileges under the other name. Last time it progressed to a temporary suspension of accounts from my internet provider. We'll see what happens this time - I think the mathematical possibilities of user account names, pc's /smart phones /etc available and wi-fi hotspots will make this an interesting exercise but only time will tell. The kids are here again this weekend and with their Geek posse of about 50 or so they'll probably have some good suggestions for alternate means of access
You lost me with the Ach Eee double toothpicks thing - but regardless
My point with Palin was not her ability to make me upset or angry - she does neither. It was a comparison to her well-documented lack of intellect and knowledge of foreign policy( remember the Katie Couric interview or the Charlie Gibson interview where she showed she was unaware of what the Bush Doctrine was, incorrectly referenced Russia as being a NATO ally and incorrectly identified Putin as the President of Russia)? Many of us hold our collective breaths every time her newest sound byte hits the airwaves - to see what moronic statement she'll make next. Soon she may very well be remembered more for having her daughter on dancing with the stars rather than having any positive political impact.
Badweb Ach Eee Double Toothpicks (h e l l). My little joke.
I, too, don't believe Sarah is ready for the big table. When my home and work were based in Alaska, I voted libertarian. It was a great place to be a libertarian. I shuffled my kickers over to the conservative side of the aisle since moving back to the States after a few years of traveling behind the Iron Curtain of the Cold War era.
Based on my observations and experiences, I feel like I know what's coming to the country in which I grew up and care deeply about.
If it was a choice for me to decide who sat in the president's chair, I'd give it to Palin over Obama in a heart beat. Incredulous? Nah. He is a bigger opportunist than she. "My candidates" never get chosen anyway, though I have a long list of people I'd prefer over either. What I want are leaders who recognize the smell of feces and don't step in it, nor fling it my way.
The back and forth on these threads is always enjoyable for me. But, it is the right and capability of Blake to censor. Which usually happens when someone hammers him verbally past the tolerance boundaries.
I, too, was invited to leave back in '04. By toning down my rhetoric, my seat in the peanut gallery still comforts my tush. I am in agreement with Blake on the issues regarding Christianity and do not expect that to change.
>>>Whisper, A certain group of people are otherwise indisposed on Sunday morning.
Uh, I didn't say anything about Blake or anyone else being silent/indisposed.
That was Midnight,(As I throw him under the bus on this.), not me.
Anywhoo.... Midnight, that last blast under the "Midnight" moniker was a little uncalled for, and you know it bro. You went to the "your a doo doo head" card. Regardless of who you think chucked the first rock, I'm bummed to see you go there. Your smarter than that.
- The Hooaah name is a clever stick. Adapting does make me smile. But how much poking you really want to do?
>>> kids are here again this weekend and with their Geek posse.
Geek posse, now that just makes me laugh!
Blake, Desiderata my man, Desiderata. God be with you! Hope you have a great week
One of my little "teaching" tricks from years ago: When a person was repeating a behavior with poor results, I'd pull out something like a pocket knife and hand it to them and make a gesture for them to give it back. Back and forth a few times and they'd say, how long do we do this? "As long as you want to." Most "got it" and quit. If not, the next time I'd put up my hand and ask them to push it. We'd push against each others' hand for a moment and I'd say hold on and stop. Then I'd hold my hand up again and they would move theirs to push against it. I would move my hand back so they couldn't push it.
Thanks to the cooler heads and thoughtful folks; i sure do appreciate your thoughtful support. It means a lot, more than you might figure.
Midnightrider,
If your posting privileges were revoked, they weren't revoked by me. In light of your recent miserableness, I do fully support that custodial decision, So you're out of the closet now? Going full blown internet troll, making your mission to try to irritate me? Good luck with that. What a swell way to spend time! And getting the children in on the trolling strategem too? What a swell family activity.
Tom, Hey bro, that moniker was self ascribed, and I'm proud of it. Oddly enough, it was prompted by the malicious campaign of a Bible and God hating athiest who was also out to smear my character. How is Sacborg these days? Last time I looked in my fan club was still going strong. Midnight ought to seek them out, group therapy is supposed to be beneficial.
The kids are well aware of our past exchanges and I think they look at it more like a challenge than anything else
Interesting insight on your history at Sacborg. A more reflective individual might learn something from that. Apparently you missed it
As for the therapy -well that's interesting too. Something I recommended for you a while back. Funny how you've incorporated quite a few things I've said into your diatribes. Ever have an original thought?
Also very telling that you gave yourself the moniker Blake Monster. Do you have a cape and a T-shirt two sizes with a big "BM" on the chest? That would be cool! Cuz a lot of folks recognize "BM" as a acronym for bowel movement. That would me true poetic justice, because you're just full of it
Enough fun for tonight - the kids and I have to go work on other projects
I'm done for now, until the next time you say something stupid. I'm confident you won't keep me waiting long
>>> Blake's taken a burn again and suspended my privileges under the other name.
That is false. I just checked on your Midnightrider account. It was not suspended in any way, shape, or form. Regardless, playing the victim is about as pathetic as it gets, especially as you break your word and repeatedly violate the terms of use which you agreed to honor here.
It is no longer false.
In closing, if you really are intent on continuing to make a pest of yourself and violate our terms of use here, you may find that your ISP(s) will accede to our request to prevent your from continuing to access the site. Usually that means they terminate your account for violation of their terms of service. So far we're batting a thousand concerning such requests. It incredibly helpful having some of the major players in the industry helping to look after the place.
Yeah I know about the Sacborg thing. I do not contribute there anymore as it became pointless but Sacborg is still in my Buell roots, so I still watch.
They recently had an emotional outburst where Court was referred to as Walter Mitty. Very funny, actually. I look forward to getting together with Candog again and calling him Walter. Very Dude, indeed. Your DADT beliefs here wasn't exactly a barn burner there, but they are bitter old ladies lately.
So can we move this thread to Double Hockey Sticks as this is what Jesus would do?
WOW... a guy leaves for the weekend and all hell breaks loose! (Blake I did get your PM and no I did not read it, I told you I’m not going to argue with you because of reasons previously stated and it would do no good to let you bait me back into some online quarrel with no point)…
Unfortunately this is an ideal example of what you'll see when you try to openly debate a ‘true believer’. No amount of proof, evidence, logical argument or whatever other facts one might have, it simply doesn’t matter because the believer ‘knows’ he or she is right and that’s the problem. Any person so indoctrinated by an organization can be manipulated by the organization and then bad things happen. I’d not planned to respond ever again to this thread but I though 50+ posts warranted a little blurb, (at least for entertainment value if nothing else
To those religious members who think I’ve insulted you I say again that was not my intent. I’m SURE that the majority of religious people ARE GOOD AT HEART, as is also true for the majority of non-religious people. As far as respecting religion itself, well no I cannot in good conscience respect any religion (that I know of at this time). I see that it’s done more harm than good and it’s continuing to divide the world. Whether it’s some loon in a big hat helping to spread AIDS and hide child molesters, a bunch of nut cases flying a plane into a building, some a$$hole protesting a funeral for one of my brothers in arms or some sicko that kills her kids get a voice in her head (aka god) told her to ( http://www.cephas-library.com/assembly_of_god/asse mbly_of_god_member_killed_her_sons.html ) religion is just a nasty roadblock along the path of human societal evolution. Society is ever changing and our relationship with religion needs to keep up with that change. Don’t forget that the christians burned the first guy to ever translate the bible into English but today the bible is in almost every hotel room you stay in. The relationship clearly evolved as society became literate and more educated did it not? We must look at religion for what it is, good AND bad, educate ourselves and then decide what’s best for our world…
So anyway, my point was just imagine if there wasn’t religion, maybe things would be different…
While a great deal of the worlds difficulties, and most of the current threats to mankind & freedom ARE RELIGIOUS, faith in invisible things might not be the problem. the Problem is evil men taking advantage of faith to gain power & riches.
2 1/2 religions are the root of most ( 80% ?? not sure of actual percentage ) of the evil in the world today.
In order of people murdered.
1. State worship. Fascist, Communist, etc. hundreds of millions murdered, billions if you count wars of conquest, but the hundreds of millions murdered are the SUBJECTS of the nations who murdered them. End goal. World Domination with a totalitarian regime.
2. Islam. Radical, mainstream? Dozens of millions, at least. ( many murdered will never be counted since they are from lands with poor counts of population, or were murdered by jihadi and blamed on, well, us. End goal. World Domination with a totalitarian regime. For God.
2 1/2. Green religion. Closely related, and in many cases deliberate constructs of Communist powers. tens of millions murdered by disease and poverty since, after all, the world can't have so many people living the "sinful" lifestyle of the "West". End goal. World Domination with a totalitarian regime. For your own good.
Yet, despite isolated and widely condemned actions by fringe nutballs, Christianity has stopped burning witches, for the most part, and baiting a Christian will get you an argument.
Baiting the above religious groups will get you murdered. On youtube.
(full disclosure. Brought up multi Christian, Baptized Roman, Confirmed Episcopal, studied Lutheran, Baptist, Eastern faiths including Buddhism, Shinto, and Hinduism. passed through agnostic & adolescent athiesm to find Modern Paganism, and finally Asatru as reasonable philosophies. Not especially devout. )
I don't claim at all that all of faith is good. I do notice that Christians will argue, get upset, and are unlikely to kill you. Other faiths ( especially the ones noted above ) will destroy you with all their might and every lie in the book. Including calling you a Nazi. (while denying any similarities between their faith and Hitler's. )
Ahiests seem to either be polite enough not to laugh out loud at people believing in "sky gods"...( thank you polite non-believers ) or self absorbed twits that sue about religious symbols because they are offended. Oddly they are never offended by mass murdering evil, or religious symbols of faiths that will slaughter their families. Hmm.
Now do you think that utopia might happen if all people were smart enough, self aware enough, and good enough, to see that enlightened self interest and logic can solve our problems with one another without resort to the "sky gods" that are purely constructs of man's imagination?
Sounds good. Eliminating the deluded and stupid, leaving only the wise and kind also eliminates the population problem.
>>> Blake I did get your PM and no I did not read it, I told you I’m not going to argue with you because of reasons previously stated and it would do no good to let you bait me back into some online quarrel with no point)
The point is truth. But bowing out just when the debate gets going in organized fashion is the only means you have of defending some of the indefensible falsehoods you seek to spread. Unwilling to face opposition to your claims? How cowardly.
>>> To those religious members who think I’ve insulted you I say again that was not my intent.
Right back at ya. It was not my intent to offend you. My intent was to concisely counter your falsehoods and bewilderingly ignorant statements.
You tell us that you are an atheist, one who believes there is no God. Then you went beyond unbelief, you delved into rejecting and attacking my faith, my God, his word, then you lectured me, a Christian, that to be a Christian I must believe a litany of nasty things about the Bible and God, and that I must support all kinds of outrageous religious justice, like the killing of people if they work on Sunday.
Well, I am a Christian and I do not hold to the ignorant false assertions which you try to peddle about God, and the Bible and the Christian faith.
You pretend to know more about Christianity than those of us who are Christians?
You've illustrated nothing but ignorance and a malicious desire/willingness to proselytize (on my own web forum no less) your egregiously false perception of Christianity, our Bible, and God to any who will listen.
Then when confronted on it you run away.
How cowardly.
You've done a very poor job of reading and understanding the Bible. Try again.
That's the only means you have of defending the indefensible falsehoods you seek to spread. Unwilling to face opposition to your false claims? How cowardly.
Blake, I like you and all, but even as a fellow Christian, I have to call you out on this. Our "faith" is likewise indefensible. The Bible cannot be touted as a "factual" source, or else Christianity would not rely so heavily on the act of faith itself. "The Bible says so" simply does not hold up in a rational debate.
Just sayin'.
Do I believe in it? Sure. Do I need to convince anyone else? No. Sometimes the atmosphere around here seems to be "You can lead a horse to water, and if he doesn't drink, beat him in the head until he falls in and chokes on it."
EDIT: I may be off base a bit simply because the rambling nature of this... thread?... has made it virtually impossible for me to track who said what and when. If so, my bad.
Agreed. I'm not talking about an argument about the proof of my faith, only the provably false nonsense he's asserted concerning the Christian faith and God as documented by the Bible.
