Iride: Actually many MSF outfits do offer advanced 2-up rider instruction, albeit on a much more limited schedule, mostly by demand- knew of several folks who would take the course every other year with their pillion riders, just to stay sharp with their skills... Good idea IMHO.... |

My girlfriend rides with me, but nowhere near "most" of the time, though she's been going more and more. She's only probably 120 lbs with gear, so it's not much different than when I would strap a bag full of books to my back and ride to class, lol. She doesn't mind my riding style and we're going to try for our first longer-ish trip this summer to Bar Harbor - couple days, max. |

86129-Great point. The MSF ERC does allow passengers to participate. Most ERC's scheduled in my area are private groups (gold wing riders association, hog groups, etc.). Some groups are more likely than others to have the passengers attend/participate. Personally, I've never taught an ERC with a passenger involved, which is a shame, because so many of those students regularly ride with passengers. |

I rode our buddy Ken through Daytona's infield last year. I like Ken a lot, but at his size 'pilon' may have been an understatement. I bet Wolfie has a picture of that somewhere. It was funny as can be, a fat man (me) dwarfed by an Oriental Saskwatch on an orange Uly! Seriously though, I have toted the wife and also one of our adult daughters over many hundreds of mountain road miles with the Uly. The thing that I seem to kill is the front engine isolators, because with luggage and gear, we top the 500 pound range combined. On hot days it will eat more of the rear tire, but everything else has handled the loads with out a problem. |

Hahahaaa!! Vern, I may need more shiny Ben-Gay treatments to erase that image from my mind... |

Vern that is the funniest thing I have read in awhile. I ride 2 up with my wife most of the time. Besides the scaling back on the right hand to avoid wheelies the only other concern I have is it likes to eat rear tires. I get one year out of a rear on my XT and I live in WI which means 8 months of riding if I stretch it. She loves it and I really do enjoy the trips together.
Returning home on the SS Badger from a great weekend trip up and over Lake Michigan. Decided on Friday at 10am to do the trip rolling out the driveway at 5pm. Great trip |
